I found a list called “The 25 most popular icebreaker questions based on four years of data“. So I’m gonna post a few, and see what happens.
Your mission: answer the question in the comments with a good story.
If you don’t have a good story, you are encouraged to make one up.
Seen any good movies lately you’d recommend?
Yes, the Rankin-Bass animated “Return of the King” movie circa 1980. It gave the original Lord of the Rings trilogy story the same respect that Peter Jackson gave “The Hobbit“.
Also, you’ll never get the song “Where There’s a Whip, There’s a Way” out of your head.
I don’t often get to watch new movies, I usually put on something my Dad will like so for my viewing it ends up being John Wayne and he hasn’t made anything new for years. However just recently I was up early and was able to watch something new, or at least relatively new, 13 Minutes which is described by IMDB “In November 1939, Georg Elser’s attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler fails, and he is arrested. During his confinement, he recalls the events leading up to his plot and his reasons for deciding to take such drastic action.” I thought it was pretty good, decent film making, interesting story and some good acting. Subtitles so be prepared to read if you don’t understand German.
Skipped the Superbowl to watch Darkest Hour. It was well worth my time, and as a bonus I was able to see the Brady strip sack as we exited the theatre, because a large Eagles contingent was hooting it up at the local sports bar next door and I turned to catch it on the big screen. But seriously, Gary Oldman is outstanding as Churchill.
The Tiger
On Netflix.
The Good, the Bad, the Weird.
On Netflix.
Heh. I saw The Good, The Bad, and The Weird a few years ago. The title kinda says it all. I found it well-paced and entertaining, though
I think the Rankin/Bass Hobbit with Orson Bean was very good. The R/B Return of the King had too many musical interludes for my taste. I found myself fast forwarding through them after a while.
No. I made that up, very short story.
The Last Jedi, but no, don’t subject yourself to such horrors.
In reality, Hacksaw Ridge was spectacular, if not for the movie itself, but in the realization they fell short of the absolute insanity of what the main character actually did (I looked up his MoH citation).
I highly recommend Hacksaw Ridge, with the caveat that, because of the graphic, realistic, depiction of the violence of war, that it may not be appropriate for small children or those with delicate sensibilities.
I recently watched In a Lonely Place, with Humphrey Bogart and the girl who cain’t say no, Gloria Grahame (YOWSAH!). Very good, if you like that sort of thing. But for me, anything with Gloria Grahame in it is well worth watching.
I recomend Windriver, an excellent movie that starts a little slow but builds up to a great action filled ending. Also Dunkirk good from beginning to end, well done, well acted, great cinimatography.
