  1. I had a high school English teacher named Mr. Sage. He was a short, slight, soft-spoken man who somehow commanded attention whenever he spoke. He always held his students to a high standard, and got me to focus and self-edit my work for clarity. He made me the writer I am today. I later found out he had served as a tech sergeant in Europe during WWII, transporting and setting up portable bridges.
