Remember “We Are The World?” Yeah, you tried to forget that one, didn’t you?
The biggest problem was it was overdone. Every time you turned around, it was either playing on the TV or radio, or somebody was talking about it on the TV or radio.
It got old.
Why am I bringing it up now? Well, I ran across it while searching for something else. And you you must suffer because I did.
So, other than that video, what’s on you mind? Do you have something you’d like to share? Now’s your opportunity. It’s Thursday Night Open Thread.
Who wants to start?

A couple of observations.
1) Did not google it but I was able to name everyone in the video except for one guy. I also can’t for the life of me remember the name of the lead singer from Journey.
2) They had to drag poor Bob Dylan into this, didn’t they? I am depressed.
3) I seem to recall a story, and no I ain’t Googling it, that they tried to get Merle Haggard in the video but he said, “Good ol’ boy don’t sing Swahili.”
No aside from that I only wanted to say…
I HATE YOU BASIL! I HATE HATE HATE YOU for making me watch that I hope it was worth it to you deriving whatever disgusting pleasure you can from destroying my soul.
Now get me some Weird Al…STAT!
I think I know the Weird Al song… I like nearly all of his stuff, but I’m not so sure you’ll enjoy that one.
On the other hand, the worst Weird Al song is still better than whatever it is parodying.
True dat. I’m trying to think of a single Weird Al song where I prefer the original… and I’m drawing a blank. And I’m thinking of several where I can’t stand the original,
“somebody was talking about it on the TV or radio.”
Tonight thank God it’s them instead of you.
Luckily, I was on deployment when that came out. I remember the song and the video. But never had to deal with the hoopla.
I remember thinking when I first saw the video, “What a bunch of horse-shite. It was all a chance to get their faces on camera to show how much they cared.”
I’m sure most of them did nothing beyond the song to help out. I think it’s still awful.
Correct on all counts.
It’s Dubya’s birthday! George W. Bush was born July 6, 1946, in New Haven, Connecticut.
