ABC News | January 11, 2024Singer Jelly Roll speaks at the Senate hearing on a fentanyl bill, saying 190 people in America die daily from a drug overdose.
Paul Simon lyrics:
Come on, take me to the Mardi Gras
Where the people sing and play
Where the dancing is elite
And there’s music in the street
Both night and dayHurry, take me to the Mardi Gras
In the city of my dreams
You can legalize your lows
You can wear your summer clothes
In the New OrleansAnd I will lay my burden down
Rest my head upon that shore
And when I wear that starry crown
I won’t be wanting anymoreTake your burdens to the Mardi Gras
Let the music wash your soul
You can mingle in the street
You can jingle to the beat
Of Jelly Roll
I’ve never been to a Mardi Gras but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
All kidding aside I have been to Orleans several times just not during Mardi Gras. Once visited the cemetery where the movie Easy Rider shot the acid trip scene and it was all still there…the statue that Fonda sat on and cried. It was very emotional.
I can’t believe The Senate would have this murderer testify. According to Gregg Allman:
“ Jelly roll killed my pappy,
And drove my mama stone blind.”
I’m wild about my Jelly, my sweet Jelly roll…
Mr. Morton hardest hit…
They had him appear last. His testimony was considered the icing on the cake….
