Missed It By That Much

They apparently had wheeled toys, but…

Although the Incas knew about the concept of the wheel, they never developed it in practice because their empire spanned the world’s second highest mountain range, where there were more straightforward methods to carry goods than using the Inca wheel. The Incas never developed the wheel or used animals for hauling, and they had no system of writing.

So bye-bye, MesoAmerican Pi.

  1. The Mayans were cannibals eating themselves then came along the Aztec who ate all the Mayans and then headed south for more meat but they all got eaten by the Incas. Then all the Incas died of syphilis that the Spaniards gave them.

  2. The Incas used llamas as pack animals, so they did use them for “hauling”. They didn’t need writing, as they had the system known as “quipus”, which were intricate strings of colored knots, used for recounting stories and keeping accurate accounting records. Modern science still has not fully deciphered them. They were also master stone masons, creating walls with megalithic blocks so large that we would have a hard time moving them today, fitted together so closely you can’t fit a knife blade between them. Modern man still can’t do that with the technology that the Incans supposedly had at their disposal. The Incan Empire and other Mesoamerican empires would have continued for centuries if they hadn’t been decimated by the diseases brought by the Europeans, which killed 90% of the natives.
