To the Moon… Again

So the plan is now to send four people to the moon in 2018. Sure, that’s twice as many people as in the old missions, but that’s so long from now that I’ll be nearly forty (and will probably have been elected President in 2016 and who knows what funding I’ll cut). Everyone who previously went to the moon will probably be dead. Everyone who watched the first moon landing will be really old and confused and think they’re seeing a news rerun when the new landing happens.
Why is this going to take so long? Are we even going to reach Mars in my lifetime? When JFK first proposed going to the moon in a drunken boast, we were there like three weeks later. That’s ’cause we had the Soviets to compete against. I think it’s time that America just admit it’s not as productive without the Soviets, and the Russians admit their half-assed democracy ain’t going anywhere. Then the Soviets rebuild and we have an evil super-power rival to prove we’re better than. Sorry, but a bunch of retardo Islamist just ain’t going to inspire us to make a mission to any celestial body.
So how does NASA get the funding to rebuild the Soviet Union?

  1. How do we get the funding?
Easy. Sell off any state that has a compass modifier in its name. Do we really need TWO Dakotas? How about a North AND South Carolina? Does anyone really care about WEST Virginia? I’m telling you…someone out there is sure to buy them.

  2. Pomoze Bog.
Space is a dead end. We have too much to work with here to screw around outside the atmosphere (outside of placing and repairing satellites).
If we’re going to spend a basketload of cash, we ought to spend it exploring the seafloors and other untapped places here on our own planetary surface.
FrankJ, you were right the first time around. Nuke the damned moon…don’t visit it.

  3. I would like to see a giant space ship go to the moon with just enough fuel to get there. On my list I would send….

Add any names you wish -just remember that I have first rights to the reality show scripts etc.

  4. Well, I don’t know how they’re going to fund anything (other than to get Alan Greenspan and the Fed to just print whatever money they think they need), but I do think I know why “this going to take so long”.
Simple. It takes a long time to get a movie soundstage to look like the real moon. Plus you have to hire actors and directors and gaffers and best-boys. [Whatever they are. Please don’t tell me. I’d rather not know.]

  5. Frank, when you’re President you should cut the funding for congressional paychecks. You’ll have to do it by executive order so it doesn’t get vetoed.
If those idiots don’t get paid, they’ll just go home.

  6. I watched the original landing on TV when I was 14. But the question is:
when I’m older & even more confused, watching the new landing on my super 35Ghz thought-controlled (think Firefox) wrist PC with wireless broadband streaming access, how will I know it’s not something cooked up by President FrankJ’s “Karl Rove clone” RightWingDuck?
I’ll bet it will be only a distraction to take my mind off of the thousands of monkeys typing away at the UN hoping to come up with the phrase “FrankJ = Bush” while RWD secretly plots to flood the building with laughing gas.
Oh. Wait. They’re already silly. Well, I’m sure he’ll have a plan.

  7. Firefox has mind control??? Oh…sorry…you ment the movie.
I would like to see Michael Moore on the moon, but there isn’t enough funding in the world to build a rocket that large. Plus I’m sure a mass transfer of that amount to the moon would alter the gravity of both the Earth and the moon and really mess things up. And what would he eat up there?
Any way, it’s clear that we can’t get to the moon sooner than 2018 because Bush lies and hates blacks. That’s what MSNBC said. (Or was it CNN? I get my conservative bashing news stations so confused sometimes….)
