Yes, much like how “DANGER – HIGH VOLTAGE!” signs are so ambiguous.

  1. Similarly, Hitler did not really mean it when he “talked about gaining the ‘living space’ in the East as basic necessity [sic] that must be gained by invading Russia.”

    Seriously, there is a historian who argues that Hitler never really intended to invade Russia (apparently, he was later panicked into the decision by Britain’s declaration of war), because “no leader publishes his geopolitical attack plans in publicly available edition” [sic]:

    People cannot seem to make themselves believe that leaders who publicly and openly threaten death to other nations really do mean it, even after they carry out the threat. We are doomed.
