Fighting Back for Palin

I haven’t seen Greta Van Sustren interview with Governor Palin last night, but once again the media is trying to slime her. Here a reporter is taking just one of the most basic expressions of faith and trying to use it to paint Palin as a religious nutjob. The guy is either extremely ignorant or dishonest or a combination of the two. And I’m sick and tired of this.

A lot of people are hesitant about supporting Palin in the future because of how successfully much of the media has slimed her, but at some point supporting her becomes a matter of honor. Palin has run a business, worked herself up from being mayor of a small town to being governor of a state essential to our economy with no political dynasty to help her, fought corruption in her own party, and did this all while raising a family. So where does any useless people get off questioning her intelligence or her self-worth?

If someone is trying to demean Palin, we should demand exactly what has that person done to put himself any position to do so. Unless he has any accomplishments to match up to even a part of what Palin has done, he should shut the @#$% up about a person demonstrably smarter than he is. And, frankly, I don’t consider a bunch of snarky columns accomplishments. If conservatives let this be a country where accomplishments don’t mean anything, then we will have no chance in elections in the future.

As for Palin, if she plans on running in 2012, she better spend her time in Alaska like Rocky spent his time up in the mountains in Rocky IV. It will be a tough fight. But if she decides to run, I and any other conservative with any honor should have her back.

  1. I’ve got her back. That poor woman has been wrung through the wringer and she’s handled it all with class and dignity. I still can not believe the vitriol that she seems to trigger in nutjobs on the left… and even crazies on the right who are threatened by her! The fact is… she was the only reason McCain had a fighting chance in the first place. He alone could not carry his ticket… he stunk. The fact that he got 55 million votes is thanks to Sarah Palin… not his own doing. I keep hoping that he’ll make a public statement in her defense… now that the election is over. But I’m not going to hold my breath.

  2. I think if she is serious about running in 2012, she needs to start visiting a few foreign countires. But one thing I would do is not visit Europe. She is governor of Alaska. I would concentrate on visiting the Far East. The Pacific is the future. She should visit Japan, S. Korea, China, and the Russian Far East. She should talk about energy policy and talk about the new geothermal projuect in Siberia.

  3. By 2012, Alaska and a few red states in the southlands will be the only decent places to live. If I were her, I stay there and tend to business. We’re not worth it “down here.” We’re the “Self-destruct States of America.”

  4. Janna, that would be a nice gesture for McCain to make a statement defending Palin, but I don’t know how much it would help. I mean, I’m not sure how much credence the too-nice McCain has among Palin haters (or lovers for that matter). Perhaps it’s better for them to go their separate ways. Palin can earn her votes without McCain’s help, and I think if she goes “Rocky” for the next few years, she is on track to defeat whatever illuminati is on the ballot in 2012. The media will never make it easy for her, but the best thing Americans can do is learn not to trust the media. I think we’ve all learned a lesson with this election.

  5. It’s SOP for the Left: any successful or promising Republican must be slimed, smeared, and generally made toxic. The pattern of attacks is one or more of stupid, religious nut/science denier, corrupt, racist, sexist or fascist. They keep throwing out the smears hoping something sticks, and with the media on their side, something usually will, without necessarily bearing any relation to the truth. This has been the pattern since at least Gingrich, probably since Bork.

It only works, though, to the extent that people let it. Republicans let the Democrats and media pick their nominee this year. How’d that work out for ya?

  6. I don’t know Jeff, maybe we should let the Dems and liberal media pick our candidates — only not the way they did it this time. Here’s what I’m thinking: we go through the regular primary process and let them try to skew things the way they always do. But instead of nominating the person with the most votes/states, we track the amount of negative press each candidate gets. That measure will tell you which person they are most afraid of — the one they think will be the most formidable opponent. Then we pick that person. In this past election, this system would have picked Mitt Romney. Anybody think he wouldn’t have won given the current economic situation? Would not have been close.

Only problem is we have to ignore the primary process to do this. Maybe we set the primary process up to do it this way and then publish a fake statement to the press on how it’s going to work this time.

    What do you guys think?

  7. BadAndy has a point. It would seem that the candidate the left fears most is the one that gets the majority of their vitriol. Although, Romney wouldn’t have been a good candidate for the conservative base because the majority of Christians wouldn’t vote for him, myself included. Good Lord, it was a struggle for a long time for me to put the pen beside McStain’s name and then only after considering the result would be a bigger obamination of the presidential office. So, if you see the mainstream media “selecting” another “maverick”, it should be crystal clear now not to put that guy on the ticket.

  8. Living here in the edge of the south my preacher (who by the way is originally from Wisconsin)
advocates the south (and I’ll include Alaska and any other red state) secsession again……..
(this was said in jest buttttttttttttt………)

Gov. Palin the ONLY reason I and most of my friends voted for Mcain. Run Sarah Run!!!!!

  9. We sure do hope Palin returns in two thousand and twelve and gets the republican party nomination. After this election she can not way find her way back to the center and therefore cannot win a general election in this country, the United States of America. It is wrong what the media is doing to her. She is entitled to her views and her clothes. She is not stupid. But she is too far to the right to be electable. I do not believe she should spend her time in Alaska, United States of America if she wants to win. The blogger who wrote this must not be very knowledgeable about what it takes to win an election here in the United States of America. Maybe this blogger is actually in India or something. To win an election in the United States of America you need to be visible to the public and talking about current events so the public hears your ideas and your thoughts and your views.

  10. We’ve Got Your Back Palin!
Its time true conservatives backed a true conservative no matter what! I hope the lessons that will be learned over the next 4 years will wake up some of the ones that “sold out” if not – screw ’em, we’ll broaden our base by getting the youth as energized as Obummer did!
Jindal / Palin or Palin / Jindal 2012 either way It sounds good –

  11. But here in the United States of America, we have successfully politicized everything as we manage to stick our nose into everyone’s business, including their wallets, religion, medical practices, personal beliefs, utterances… everything. But, hey, the United States of America is after all, the United States of America and we are a government of laws and not of men in the United States of America so the solution is obviously to pass more laws! In the United States of America, we can count on our elected officials and their employees to carry out the laws of The United States of America. And if the law isn’t carried out in The United States of America, pass a law requiring them to do so! Only in the United States of America is it possible to do this. We are, after all, The United States of America.

  12. To win an election in the United States of America you need to be visible to the public and talking about current events so the public hears your ideas and your thoughts and your views.

It’s nice to hear that you regard George W. Bush as being every bit as articulate as Obama.

Fortunately Bush wasn’t “too far to the right to be electable” himself, though it is odd that praise of both him and this country only emanated from your side after November 4th.

Since you are very knowledgeable about what it takes to win an election in the United States, I look forward to your own campaign to become governor of a state. It isn’t it odd that Palin won it, yet an accomplished experienced person such as yourself hasn’t obtained it yet?

  13. Wasn’t Rocky in Russia during that part of the movie? I guess Palin could see him. But maybe I would feel worse for her if she hadn’t spent the last two months calling me unamerican because I don’t live in a trailer in Appalachia and have read books and stuff. Just sayin’.

  14. The ONLY way we are going to be able to save this country is if we managed to find some real live patriots out there somewhere. People who do not want to go to Washington to make a lot of money, people who do not seek to see their names in the news nightly, people who have real jobs that they plan to go back to after they’ve done their duty. What we need are people who are of the same stamp as the founders of this country.

Today we have selfish, egotistical, self serving, foul mouthed, degenerate, voyeurs who have NO clue what sacrifice is, they can’t even begin to get their minds around the idea of PUBLIC SERVICE, and the idea of “Sacred Honor” does not even compute. We have allow the fringe, the idealogues, the rabidly uncivilized and the eternally self involved to come between us and our children, our families our communities and our God.

That’s right WE allowed it. Every time we didn’t fight, every time we knuckled under, every time we tolerated some new outrage.

We have met the enemy and he is us. (and he’s on line at Kos Kindergarten every day).

  15. When I was 4.5 years old I was going to Sunday School with my Mom. I looked up at her and said “None of this can be true” …its simply impractical. Thus I establish my bona fides as an atheist. If you had the current age of the universe to try and convince me I would not be convinced there is a god or that religion is anything more than a good story like those of Aesop.

This is why I find it so very ironic when the left picks on the religious. My reaction? MMmm……my choices are

-1- christians who by and large leave me alone and do not ask me directly to pay higher taxes for their beliefs

-2- lefty nutjobs who believe in the Church of Later Day Global Warming. They campaign daily to attempt to change my life in measurable ways.

………and they have the chutzpah to talk about Palin’s religious beliefs. I’ll take the christians every time!

  16. One further note: Palin needs to do only 1 thing: Cut all the overused key catch phrases like: Track record | maverick – ( this one makes me want to puke ) | etc. ….or at least back it down a notch. I’m a diehard Sarah fan but the repetitive use of pithy catch phrases are the one thing she needs to work on. Her use of language when talking with Greta Van Sustren was MUCH much more appealing. Not pre-canned. No trite phrasing. I wanted to walk up to her and hug her……but I dare not because I would start hugging and rubbing and kissing and pretty soon the secrete cervix would be toting me off to jail.

  17. seanmahair – these patriots NOT in the news……..one of my gripes about Bush is he was lazy about getting himself into the news. It was like he was bunkered down. The think that is needed are patriot politicians who WANT to be in the news ALOT!!

EXAMPLE: I would like to get elected senator from any state. Then go to Washington D.C. and gentleman filibuster absolutely everything. When I am offered bribes of one sort or another by other politicians I will have tape rolling the whole time by my 100% of the time video camera crew. After aforesaid attempted bribe I email the videos to every blog that exists and continue filibustering. The people need a champion to shut the place down and make it entertaining as hell for them to watch the 1 man rebellion.
