Live, From Java on Fourth in Sun Valley, It’s the IMAO 2nd Blogiversary Special

Because the frick’n public library isn’t open on Fridays until 1pm (3pm ET).
Yay hotspots!
You’re probably saying to yourself, “Hey, something looks different here. Did you change your font size?”
No, I had a complete redesign by Sekimori. Anyway, I’ll still have to catch up some new pages to the new template (such as the Peace Gallery), move a few things around and cut the fat, and do a new “About Me” page plus an actual FAQ… with answers! Put suggested questions in the comments.
So much to comment on in the news today, but I still have the whole “hang with the family thing.” I’ll put up a few posts, and see more of you guys after the weekend.
BTW, it is “International Link to IMAO Day”, and I won’t be able to be on much today to see who is not complying, so it’s up to you ronin to gently remind those who forget.
A new age dawns today, so bask in its glory.
UPDATE: Aww. Michelle Malkin is now one of my favorite bloggers as well as columnists. Wish I had the whole day to check out all my friends in the blogosphere, but I need to eat and get going soon. Thank you notes will have to wait for next week.

  1. Hey, not too shabby. In keeping with the “Frank J. Standard”, seeing red is what it’s all about. My only concern is that the whole site still looks like a bunch of blocks stacked together. If the red were somehow shadowed or shaded or “volumafied” or something … just anything to give some kinda’ depth to the design.
I do like the new structure, though.

  2. Obligatory Link to IMAO

Today is International Link to IMAO day. As a good ronin and devotee of Frank J. I hereby obediently link to his site with nothing more than respect, awe and admiriation. Congrats on two years, Frank. Here’s to many more!

  3. Love the new look….but there’s something I’ve been meaning to comment on: The picture of Tony Blair on the right–am I the only one who thinks he’s sporting a mohawk everytime his picture flashes on the screen? It’s disturbing….or maybe I’m just disturbed…hmmmmm…

  4. Screw it, Frank.
Happy Blogiversity, but I’m outa here. Your site has always been one of the slowest around to load, but jeeminey. Four f*ing minutes for something that depends on bugs in IE to display properly? Bye.
    Regards,
    Ric Locke

  5. New national holiday

Or something. Go congratulate Frank: he’s been blogging for 2 years now. Here’s hoping for many more (free) humorous posts. Update: Harvey mentioned ice cream in the comments to this post. That reminds me of this idea which everyone can…

  6. Happy Blogiversary, Frank!
Unfortunately, I have to agree with Ric on the loading time.
Nitpicky editor that I is, me wanna see some text inset in your middle column. Don’t like the text hitting the frame edges.
    Have fun with the family!

  7. Load time (22 secs) and text location are fine with me. I use Netscrape, have the resolution at 1280×1024, and have DSL. Maybe you pickers of nits need a more modern system? VGA and dial-up are so 1992.

  8. And a Pinch To Grow an Inch

Today is International link to IMAO day. So I’m going to link to IMAO. Because NOT linking to IMAO would be, I don’t know, a violation of international law. And I don’t want the Hague after me. Anyway, happy blogbirthday

  9. Agree with the text touching the left side. Looks amateurish.
And it looks like the blue on your links is waaaayy too dark and waaayy too small. It’s impossible for an old fart like me to even try to squint at.
At least your entries are readable. There are sites like Rabbit Blog and Tony Pierce that use the tiny type there as well. Unreadable.

  10. Oddly enough, last night around midnight central time, I SAW the new layout. I just assumed that all the red was because I was looking at it via a somewhat old data projector (640×480 resolution, but its whomp-ass for movies) as my monitor decided to go out in a flash of glory. Anyway, the projector has a quirk where it often displays a red background as webpages load.
It looks good! Me likey! And congrats on your two year run! And more exclamation points!!! Woo!

  11. I don’t know what all the load-time whiners are talking about. I’m on an 802.11g wireless connection and the page loads in about 5 sec. max. Don’t listen to them, Frank! Keep it!

  12. well since 802.11 g is 54mps I guess you dont have a problem. this site was quick it is now very slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  13. Puh-leeze. I have a dialup. If I’m lucky, I get 46.6K… usually it’s 41.3K.
Even with the new layout, IMAO never takes longer than 30 seconds to load. ESPN.com, on the other hand, two minutes or more. The Puppy Blender is around 20 seconds.
Maybe I have an I-S-D-N line and don’t realize it! Yeah, that’s it! Sure!
shaking head Methinks some people just complain because they CAN.
(note: I got a submission error with I-S-D-N without the – between the letters… what the heck is THAT all about?)

  14. Dammit Frank – I hope that Sekimori guy isn’t a friend of yours, because this new layout just isn’t doing it…the color scheme is frightening, the layout is horrible, and the load time IS waaayyyyy to slow…
Don’t take my word for it – have a poll!!

  15. Friendly Reminders

Please remember that tomorrow is Frank J’s blogversary and International Link to IMAO Day. i plan to post a gratuitous link in commemoration of the event, and in thanksgiving for the very existence of so great a blog hero, and…
