At Daily Kos, they found a soldier who wants his funding cut. He argues of all the advantages and then puts up a poll for the Kwazy Kos Kids who have been doing the secular version of praying for failure for years. Guess what the results are? Over 90% are for defunding the war.
I think the Democrats should listen to them.
As you all know, only the Sith and rightwingers speak in absolutes, and thus I’m for either fighting the war full-bore or totally giving up. Kill or don’t kill; there is no peacekeeping. The worst thing is this morass where everyone has given up on winning but are too cowardly to end things. Giuliani recently talked about the gutlessness of a non-binding resolution and urged those who believed so to actually propose defunding the war.
So here are where we should join with the nutroots: We should work together together to force Congress to debate and then vote on defunding the war. The choice has to be fight or don’t fight; let’s stop trying to find some non-existent middle ground. If the public rallies behind one or the other, at least we have an answer on where we stand. I think activists on both sides can agree that this is the debate we need going into the 2008 presidential elections, so let’s find a way to make it happen.

Are you crazy? If the answer to the question is fight or don’t fight–yes or no–then duckweed politicians on both sides will be forced to put themselves on the record. Aint going to happen! We have elected these spineless losers now we get what we deserve! Sorry–I’m a bit negative today watching these pricks do endless debates while our soldiers are getting shot at, wounded and killed!
Now wait a second: if this guy is a soldier, why would any of the Kosmunists listen to what he had to say in the first place? Aren’t soldiers just mindless drones of the Military Industrial Complex(tm), according to them?
Sen. Judd Gregg has already tried that, offering an amendment or bill or whatever the f&( they offer on Capitol Hill stating that Congress vows to never cut off funding. Dingy Harry won’t allow a vote on it because that would mean that Dumocrats and Rethuglicans would have to come down on one side or the other.
The ironing is that by voting against the Gregg amendment, all they are doing is saying that they won’t pledge not to defund the war. It doesn’t even demand an immediate vote. It kicks the question down the road.
But, of course, Dingy Harry won’t allow it because he knows that Bushitler and the Joooos are just trying to trick him into giving them some land for free that they can then “sell” and give him a couple million for later.
Oh wait, he already did that.
Why don’t we just have a reality show where right wingers and left wingers go into the octagon, and whoever wins gets their vote in congress?
The Lefties have learned-look at their strategy for the last twelve years:
1. Never say anything in “absolutes”.
2. Never volunteer.
3. Never answer a question directly.
All of this allows them to sit back and snipe at those with the cojones to speak their minds. Since they have not obligated themselves through public statement or deed, they feel they cannot be held accountable while they throw rocks at everyone else. This is the tactic they used during the Social Security overhaul that Bush proposed, the War and virtually every other cause.
They get away with it because the Left-Wing press will not call them on it.
Should I “bitch slap” the left winger or punch him while in the octagon? He’s obviously a pussy or he wouldn’t be a left winger to start with so punchin’ might be overkill…
Speaking of Sith, I found a great article on why we should be proud to say that we are Sith.
The war, itself, aside, this nonbinding resolution might be the dumbest idea in American politics since Abraham Lincoln said to his wife, “Do you want to go to the theatre?”
Isn’t a nonbinding resolution kind of like finding your kid setting fires behind the garage and saying, “Don’t every do that again, unless you really want to.”
“The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.”
The decision to go to war has been made. Hillary and her ilk voted “yea”. To renege on their support now is pure hubris and they should be denounced for their lack of a spine.
The addresses of each and every politician who has stumped for withdrawing funds and people from Iraq should be published.
That way when the terrorist come over here they can attack them first. After all it’s only fair, these peaceniks invited them.
Liberal politicians will be able to tell the terrorists from Conservatives by their war cry, “Allah Akbar” They should let us know how this works for them.
The Democrats won’t cut funding for two reasons: they want Iraq hanging around Bush’s (and every Republican’s) neck right up to Election Day, and they know it’s the wrong thing to do.
The Lefties are having hissy fits because Congress hasn’t impeached Bush yet. Well wait ’til they hear (please God, no) President Clinton tell the nation that we’re probably gonna have to be in Iraq for the foreseeable future. Either their heads will explode, or they’ll convince themselves we have to stay to clean up Bush’s mess.
This is what is so despicable about the Democratic Party today. They know we can’t hand over the region to Iran, they know Saddam was a bloodthirsty thug whose time had come, they know Oil For Food was a joke, they know his sadistic sons would eventually rule a nuclear-armed Iraq, they know democracy is the best weapon against jihadism, but because THEIR guy isn’t leading the charge, they want to sabotage every effort like the backstabbing office workers they really are.
The sad truth is that the more probable the surge is in solving the problem, the harder the Democrats will fight it, because they have hung their mantras on failure for the US and blaming Bush for it for years. It’s never been about US security or reputation to them, it’s purely about demonizing the most visible Republican, as it has been for decades. National security be damned.
That said, half-wars hamstrung by congress, encouraging the enemy, demoralizing the troops, causing withdrawals, leading to refugee surges and genocide in the millions – these are the hallmarks of Democratic military policy since Vietnam.
Speaking of Star Wars, there is a lot to be said for “Do, or do not, there is no try”.
I live in the Faggot Bay area (nor cal).
I figure if we bring the troops home we can kill all the libs we want. You know they will be supporting them and then whinning about them. Free fire as far as I am concerned.
Acknowledging that the D’s won both houses last November, but didn’t they already vote on similar ideas in the last Congress? How many times do we have to force their hand until everyone sees that the D’s are playing politics and not fighting our enemy?
AZL… Um, only until the MSM gets a clue and starts reporting rather than advocating and being mouthpieces. So, constantly for the foreseeable future. =+)
