Eat A Tasty Animal For PETA Day: March 15, 2007

Ingrid Newkirk’s PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) claims to be an animal rights group, but their outrageous headline-grabbing tactics are rarely more than criminal thuggery laced with fits of blatant bloody-handed hypocrisy.

In response to the “Holocaust On Your Plate” media campaign that mocked the Holocaust, blogger Meryl Yourish responded with “Eat A Tasty Animal For PETA Day” (EATAPETA) campaign on March 15, 2003. Bloggers and non-bloggers are invited to revolt against PETA’s ham-fisted tactics by eating animals on this day.

This year will be the Fifth Annual International Eat an Animal for Peta Day. Join us – it will be delicious.

But wait… how can you join in the fun?

Go to the Eat A Tasty Animal For PETA Day Homepage and look for a gatheringplace in your town. If your town is not listed yet, well, why not let us know when and where you will be hosting a gathering.

Sure, you can eat animal food products all by your lonesome, but you are encouraged to organize an promote your own gatheringplace to celebrate the carnivore side of your omnivorous nature.

  1. Here’s my menu. First, I’ll take one Great Northern Spotted Owl from my freezer, thaw it out, shove a can of cheap beer up it’s posterior orifice, and place it into my wood-burning barbecue. The barbecue will be heated by old growth California redwood, which naturally compliments the owl flavor since that’s where I usually shoot them. Then, I’ll fillet a common harbor seal and grill it alongside Woodsy at a temperature of Fahrenheit 911 marinated in a light Dachshund sauce (see, they’re good for something!). Finally, the meat will be put on a plate with some manatee salad with Italian dressing (don’t ask) and served with Peta bread and Venezuelan beaver cheese.
As an added note, the seal’s skin will be turned into, well, seals. Engine seals. The real thing holds up to high temperatures much better than fancy rubber compounds and exudes a light aroma that says to onlooking fishermen, “that bastard killed a seal,” and nods of appreciation.

  2. PETA uses the word “Holocaust” to describe the treatment of farm animals and draws the ire of the Anti-Defamation League. Art Spiegelman creates “Maus”, a comic book where Nazi cats send Jewish mice to Mauschwitz, and wins a Pulitzer. Go figure…
P.S. PETA still sucks – eat a Jewish animal and piss ’em both off!

  3. The dachshund is a noble breed – a courageous hunter of the ferocious badger (dachshund is German for “badger dog”) and a loyal, loving companion.
Clark Gable, Errol Flynn and John Wayne were dachshund owners. Go ahead – tell The Duke you’re gonna make a light sauce from his dog. I dare ya…

  4. I like PETA. It does stand for People Eating Tasty Animals, doesn’t it? By the by, PETA is up on charges for animal cruelty for picking up dogs and cats and killing them to place them in common dumpsters. Frickin’ hypocrytes. And if my spelling sucks, it’s Franks fault. I’ve spent too much time reading his writing.

  5. I rarely prepare the Dachshund unless I know that they haven’t eaten any badgers. A brown Dachshund marinade can be musky and a little narcissistic, but still compliments the notes of salmon and surface oils in the harbor seal. Using a classic Chihuahua salsa would simply be too overpowering, and would necessitate the substitution of tortillas for Peta bread.

  6. I looked in the FAQ section of thier website but they don’t answer the question that I am sure that many people (inluding myself) wonder: What was Ingrid Newkirk smoking when she came up with this idea? And is it the same thing as what the producer who green lighted Al Gore’s movie was smoking?

  7. We live in the Hampton Roads area, so I think we’ll be having our gathering in downtown Norfolk. I think we should grill up some tasty meat… I’ll bet you could find some right good pickings in the local dumpsters (all sorts of cats/dogs!). We can be carnivorous and redneck all at the same time.

  8. This brings to mind a scene from Doug Adams “Restaurant at the end of the Universe” where patron are encouraged to interact with the animal they intend to eat. The earth-man was the only person who seemed to find this a problem, which everyone was surprised at, including the bovine.
Beef, chicken, pork, fish –it’s what’s for dinner. Yummmmmmm,

  9. To be fair, I pilfered the canine chutney recipes from the amazing website of http://www.korea-dpr.com. These folks really know how treat man’s best friend, plus they offer the latest in fashions for the Dear Leader in your life. Not to mention that they have a first-class web designer working for them. I wonder what their chapter of PETA is like?
