Shaking Their Tiny Fists in Impotent Rage Against the Machine

Rage Against the Machine is raging against President Bush.
What took them so long?
Long time readers of IMAO will remember the Limey who quoted Rage Against the Machine lyrics in each of his crazed e-mail until I had to put him down. Rage Against the Machine has been impotently raging against “The System” for forever, so you’d think they would lead on Bush-bashing. Why did it take until now for them to make news on this? Were these anarchists and crazed leftists really on the fence about President Bush until just now?
I’m disappointed; that’s all I’m saying.
BTW, I knew a factory worker who raged against a machine; he lost three fingers.

  1. Didn’t RATM disband due to severe lack of economical success, then a different singer picked up the group, form Audioslave – under the premise of ‘no politics’?
Too bad they’re suck moonbats, ’cause RATM has some wicked guitar licks. Even a song so insulting and revoltingly idiotic as Killing in the Name is fun to play (in Guitar Hero).

  2. I always thought the last straw in RATM’s breakup was when the bass player got all belligerent at the MTV Music Awards that year (remember him climbing the scenery on stage in the middle of the telecast). I think that it offended Zack De La Moonbat’s sense of self-importance.

  3. Rage broke up, not only because they suck, but because they suck bad. Really, from what I understand they broke up because, even though everyone in the band are communist douches, the lead singer took the “bag”. The other just weren’t EXTREME (que Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle jocks) enough.
On the better note, the remaining members formed AudioSlave with the former lead singer of SoundGarden. If you like rock (G ‘N’ Fn R, Stone Temple Pilots, etc), AudioSlave is really good.

  4. Like the music; hate the idiot lyrics (I say this as a former professional lyricist).
BTW, lots of lib music mags and the NYTimes made such a big deal ’bout these guys being educated and having advanced degrees. Their degrees are in Sociology, which pretends to be a science. Put any 3rd-4th grader into a Sociology program (or any SocSci prog, for that matter) and they will earn a degree in 3-4 years. It is all a matter of parroting your teacher. In fact, I think that is exactly where their lyrics came from.

  5. I always thought they sucked. The only time thay had a tune that didn’t suck as much as usual was when the re-did that Cypress Hill tune…which also sucked.
If they really wanted to be a decent sounding, socio-political concious band, they could at least take a cue from Bad Religion. I don’t agree with a lot of BR’s philosophy, but at least they consistently sound good. And they are well educated, if not more that a little leftish.

  6. You don’t listen to this music for the lyrics. You listen to country for the lyrics. That’s why the Dixie Chicks suck, and C.W. McCall kicks ass. Also, if these guys are so into Marxism, why don’t the head on down to Venezuela and try to make a buck? Here in the oilpatch, Hugo has infused our thin ranks with the most talented of his people yearning to breath free – but legally, you know, with work visas, and skills that rank a wee bit higher than picking fruit – not that there is anything wrong with that. I think we should make convicts pick fruit, but for free. That’s even cheaper than illegal alien labor, and all they can do about it is rage against the produce.
See how this all ties together? Country music, Communism, and lettuce! I SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER, OR LIES TO WEAKNESS! I forget which.

  7. What? Rage Against the Machine? Oh, no! I used to like their energetic rock and roll!
Oh, well. Everything I ever liked either causes cancer or global destruction or some damn thing.
    Crap.

  8. And these people are experts, WHY?
Because they have already surrendered their culture and country to immigrants.
Because they studied hard at university and are totally immersed in current affairs.
Because due to their excessive use of mind altering drugs they have become one with the universe and know the question to the answer 42, pertaining to live, the universe and everything.
Or because they have nothing else to do now that they are on the downside of the success ladder.

  9. At least the world of Fantasy/Sci-Fi novels, unlike music, is written mostly by honest men and women. In numerous well-selling books authors continue to write things that would cause the PC establishment to have apoplectic fits.
For instance anti-Islamist thought has been expressed by the following: Frank Miller, “300”; Dan Simmons, “Ilium” and “Olympos”; Steve Erikson, large portions of “the Malazan Book of the Fallen” series; R. Scott Bakker, most of “the Prince of Nothing” series; Robert Silverberg, “Roma Eterna,” where he has someone kill Mohamed before that bastard can rise to prominece. There are others. I, myself, in my upcoming series I am completing under a pen-name also have strong anti-Islamist themes.
The point is, all the loud pseudo-creative people like most actors and musicians tend to spout and vent; their monotone message tends to turn off those that do not already agree with them. But a few lone voices in the wilderness are reaching millions, making them think, and challenge the PC paradigm.
