Is Thomas Frank Trying to Destroy the Democratic Party?

I think Thomas Frank is trying to destroy the Democratic Party. First, he told Democrats to take on the “liberty” issue and argue that the slavery of big government is a special kind of freedom. Now he’s in the WSJ again arguing that Democrats should give up the name-calling (the one thing they’re good at) and argue health care on the principles which would be death for them.

It’s pretty much in American DNA to reject liberal’s principles, and thus pretty much the only thing liberals have going for them is they never state explicitly what they actually believe which pretty much comes down to “You’re stupid and shouldn’t be able to make your own choices.” That’s why pretty much every liberals used to interacting in regular society knows to hold their tongue about what they actually think, often arguing the opposite (i.e., “You people need more choices; that’s why we want the public option.”). If liberals actually argued on the principles for what they truly believe, they’d be run out of town with pitchforks.

Why do want harm to come to Democrats, Thomas Frank? Are you really this naive a liberal, or are you some plot from the right-wing WSJ? If it weren’t for me having the attention span of a coke-snorting squirrel, I’d get to the bottom of this.

  1. Liberals like Thomas Frank are surrounded by like-minded liberal morons, who all long ago convinced themselves that EVERYONE agrees with their politics (ie: Bush is Hitler, Rush Limbaugh is Hitler, Ann Coulter is Hitler, Sean Hannity is Hitler, Hitler had a lot of good ideas but went a little overboard on the killing Jews thing, Che is a hero, Fidel is a great leader, the US is always guilty of causing whatever the problem is, and, lastly, socialism is good, communism is better). They will ONLY associate with fellow morons who share their far left-wing hippie political beliefs. They believe that there are only about 100 conservatives on the planet, and that EVERYONE else hates those evil conservatives and is aching for more socialism, because EVERYONE they know feels that way.

So, he falsely believes that the socialist ideals of the left will be embraced by EVERYONE since EVERYONE agrees with him and EVERYONE voted for Obama last election.

  2. Thomas Frank said:

They deplored the prospect of government intrusion into the economy, ignoring the fact that our current troubles are the consequence of government’s withdrawal from the economy.

I stopped reading at that sentence.

For a man so smart, Mr. Frank, you have a tendency to say things that could be disproven by a monkey randomly typing words into the Google search form.

If it weren’t for me having the attention span of a coke-snorting squirrel, I’d get to the bottom of this.

Oh, come on, Frank. Do you honestly expect us to believe this stuff?

With a surname like “Frank”, it’s obvious what’s going on here. I’m just sayin’.

  3. Sorry guys, I couldn’t get past the thumbnail of Pelosi with the tag “Enlarge this image”. The thought of possibly accidentally clicking any where near that made me close the page immediately.

The liberal explanation of these ideas boils down to:
    “Come on.
    Come on!
    Just try it.
    It won’t be so bad.
    Everyone’s doing it.
    See, look at France.
    Come on!”

  4. I love how these people who have never lived under real socialists keep telling us how great it will be and we should trust them on this. I do wish somewhere on the national media their was a liberal who actually said what they thought rather then these random bytes they accidentally let slip.

  5. Absolutly amazing. Once again, a leftist manages to ignore history and their own words and actions to come to a conclusion that is totally wrong.

This moron states that moving away from government has caused the current crisis. What a twit. It was the community reinvestment act and incorrect regulation of the banks that has caused this problem. yes this nation has suffered under fdr “new deal” for over seventy years, and what has it gotten us? taxes at 2000% higher rates than at that time, coersive inclusion into social security, medicare, medicaid, and welfare. Deficits that would choke a tornado. spend and tax democrats.

Leftists are just tools, no wonder they worship a turd.

  6. I’ve been reading the WSJ editorials for decades. I used to read Al Hunt, and now get the joys of reading Thomas Frank. I’ve always thought that you have to know what the “other side” is thinking if you’re going to try to defeat them.

Thomas Frank, like Howard Dean, is sincere in his beliefs and is quite comfortable promoting Liberals to be candid, since he’s convinced that they are sooo right, what rational person who could disagree with them?

I also hope that Dems take this sage advice. I believe the majority of Americans will see this as disastrous.

  7. “…It’s pretty much in American DNA to reject liberal’s principles…”

I’m finding myself doubting that statement. Used to be (to use one of my favorite phrases) “self-evident”. But looking at the government we get, I am having a difficult time finding evidence that it isn’t the one we deserve.

  8. Thomas Frank iz smirt! Just azzk him. Demokratz r smirt 2!

Who let you on the internet little child? Learn to spell, please.

common sense just isn’t common enough anymore… most of it is due to all the drugs the liberals parents used during the sixties…
