RINO Murder Suicide

So, as I understand it, in Delaware there is a choice for Republicans in the Senate primary this Tuesday between Mike Castle — who is only a Republican because he accidentally mis-filled out his registration but should easily win the general election — and Christine O’Donnell — true-conservative crazed nut who could be beaten in the general election by Alvin Greene. And on one side we have people arguing we’re throwing away an easy election win to vote for a crazy person, while on the other we have that Castle is such a horrible RINO we’ll never be able to live with ourselves.

So who do I support? I just can’t care enough to decide. It’s Delaware. This is a big fight over who gets to represent a tollbooth. And while I guess Senate control might hang in the balance, getting control of the Senate wasn’t the most likely thing and there will be advantages in 2012 to not having control of both houses yet. So, while I’d like us to win the Senate, I’m not going to get to broken up about it if we don’t. And while in general I hate RINOs, it’s Delaware so not a big deal to me.

So, what do you think?

  1. I think that’s just a skosh oversimplified. it’s not like Castle was gonna vote the GOP line anyway. He makes McCain look like Zell Miller and he’s thunderously corrupt. I’ll take crazy over crook. Get enough of our own nuts in and we can start the Congressional White Caucus.

Perspective is invaluable. Make no mistake losing a 53% “RINO” and getting a 5-15% moderate democrat is a big loss to the conservative movement one that adds up quickly.

Mike castle has a 53% life time ACU rating.

Pelosi has a 3% (must have been drunk one night in the 80’s)
Jim Webb perhaps the most military conservative “blue dog” 15%
    Lindsay Graham 89%
    McCain 82%
    Late Robert Byrd 28%

  3. Does O’Donnell have a shot to win it? If this is the general election you have to vote for the likely winner and blame the people who allowed the moron to win in the primary in the first place because the question isn’t if Castle is less conservative than O’Donnell or even if he’s less conservative than Greene, but if he’s less conservative than Pelosi. If we are still talking primary, then ABSOLUTELY vote for O’Donnell and don’t believe that BS about her not being able to win. They always say that of true conservatives, and then they put up a McCain who loses because if the people wanted a democrat there is a quicker and more efficient way to get one, i.e. vote for a democrat. Then when the RINO loses they say, “see! conservatives can’t win! we need to moderate!”

  4. This is one reason I’ve got to lay off reading non-IMAO political sites close to big elections! I agree that a squishy RINO is better than a Democrat, but it’s aggravating to see the dollar amounts spent by state and national GOP organizations on folks who aren’t especially conservative. Only thing I like about Ohio’s spring primaries is that we have some time to forget/forgive dumb Republican establishment decisions.

Win or lose, I like that Sarah Palin zips around the country endorsing candidates whose (in many cases super RINO) state GOP leaders never gave them a thought!

  5. You know where a 1 more senate Rino would have made a huge M@#$@@ difference… Obamacare

I am all for purging Rinos where and when we can but this well we are better off without them is completely removed from reality.

  6. This “compromise” of basic conservative principles just to get someone elected is what got us to this point. Having a senator who “only” votes with the liberals 40% of the time simply means that it will take twice as long to turn the country socialist. How is that better then consistently supporting candidates who are NOT interested in turning the country socialist, no matter how long it doesn’t take ?

I think that from now on, conservatives should be supporting conservative candidates. And those candidates owe it to the voters to explain why they really should be elected. Outside of the cities and some liberal fringe areas, most citizens believe in earning what they get, and are not interested in giving their treasure to those who don’t. They will support conservative candidates. About time we gave those people a real voice in Washington.

I will, always, vote for the most conservative candidate available, in both the primaries and the general elections. Having seen the results of “moderation” and ‘compromise”, I can’t see how we can do otherwise any more.

  7. You live in Idaho, Frank. I border those people. We’ve got enough RINOs in Pennsylvania, personally I, like Russia, do not want enemies on my borders, but vassals or allies. Frankly, I don’t know why we haven’t invaded Delaware to attain a deepwater port.

  8. Shiggz nailed it: Obamacare is why this matters. We need every seat we can take from them. Sadly, I say that goes for independents too as Lieberman gave in to bullying and supported it. Back the conservative candidate; however, I don’t see what it is that makes her such a crazed nut.

  9. Backing squishes will get you two things.

    1. No repeal of disgrace care. They will ho hum and compromise, but never repeal.

    2. No cut in entitlement spending. Squishes are like the marxists, just different in what they want to spend my money on.

  10. The question becomes are you a Conservative, a Conservative Republican or a Republican? If one prefers to characterize themselves as a Conservative Republican and is honest with themselves they know that sometimes they must choose to be one or the other.

  11. I live 25 minutes from the border of Delaware. In fact, most of my neighbors have relocated to Delaware in the past 10-12 years because of the steaming sinkhole of Democrat policies that is Philadelphia. Delaware is not the San Francisco Bay Area. Sure, they were brain dead enough to re-elect Biden for the past 175 years but like many of us, they just weren’t paying attention and he took Amtrak.
Castle voted for Crap & Tax. He voted for DISCLOSE. He has a 100% rating from NARAL. His NRA rating is F. He did NOT support repealing Obamacare until late last week when he saw his poll numbers tank. When I think about Castle, I recall Lindsey Goober Graham yukking it up with Elena Kagan at the SC confirmation hearings – that memory is seared into my brain for all time.

Off to Delaware to hand out photoshopped pictures of Mike Castle in a pork pie hat cavorting naked with Anthony Wiener and 2 goats.

    Oops, wrong blog. Only kidding.

  12. No one here is saying put Rinos in red seats. Actually we all said the opposite, so to respond as such is dishonest. I dont understand why this isn’t the plan? Maybe you haven’t thought it through yet?

Neuter the liberal agenda and get a conservative majority in control:

-Get better conservatives in safe red seats, Bennet and Murkowski are great examples.
-Win a majority some toss up seats. Rubio/california
-poach some blue seats -Scott Brown
    -knock out their leadership -Reid

This is about blocking liberal agenda, control of congress, extremely important power of redistricting. If we controlled all of these these thing but not the white house most Americans wouldn’t blame us for thinking the dems were in charge. Look at 1994 or the Dem playbook from 2006-2008. A lot of conservative revolution could happen like that even more then was done under Reagen .

It is the opposite of the strategy of the last few years which was -Keep the white house/lose everything else/ be blamed for everything the dems in congress did.

  13. * Also I am only talking talking the general principle of the necessity of Rinos not of whether or not whoever Mike Castle is and what his seat situation is should be one of them. From what JCP says its sounds like Castle should have been replaced by a more palatable but electable candidate.

I haven’t heard anyone say that Castle was going to vote with the GOP line all the time. I think you’ve oversimplified what you’re rebutting to the point where no one can recognize it. Smells like straw.

And Castle is not ‘thunderously corrupt’. That’s simply a load of crap. He’s a statist, moreso than Mccain, and he’s quite open and honest about it.

I’ll tell you who has the ethics problem: the candidate and campaign that appears to have fed you a line of bull. I don’t mind if Castle loses. He’s not much help and he really is terrible for the GOP brand. But O’Donnell’s promises can’t be trusted either. It’s a race where we’re screwed no matter who loses, and there’s an upside for any of them winning. O’Donnell’s a loser and can’t win, but if she wins the primary it sends a warning to squishes who use electability to keep power… they could be screwed anyway. If Castle wins we get his vote half the time and a much better chance of winning the majority. If the democrat statist wins, then statism is more part of the democrat brand than if RINOs like O’Donnell or Castle win and vote statist (they both would and they are both unreliable for conservatives, only one admits it to your face and the other holds honesty in contempt).

It’s not that I don’t care about this Delaware seat so much as I realize we lost this race when the challenger to Castle turned out to be terrible. All three choices have about as much upside for me. I can’t support a liar, so my preference is anyone but O’Donnell.

But I do understand those who disagree. Since all options suck, anyone who gets too upset about those who take a different side should relax.

  15. Crazy Republican vs Pretend Republican

In other words, Ron Paul or Olympia Snow?

Yeah, I got the sexes reversed, but you get the point.

I, for one, and perfectly okay with some crazy Republican representing Delaware, if it helps put conservatives in charge of key Senate chairmanships. Like Judiciary.

GOP won’t have a veto-proof Congress, no matter what. So, it’ll be hard to get things done. At least, no more silly-ass health care bills or tax increases will pass.

  16. Win, lose, or draw, let the chips fall where they may.

Always vote for the candidate who most closely mirrors your positions on the issues. Anything less is just r*tarded. (In today’s PC environment we can’t say “Retarded.”)

Whether your candidate can win is besides the point. Why vote for a Reid or, for that matter, McCain clone? Why vote for someone who merely has an R in front of his name but doesn’t share your values, regardless if they can win or not.

If a true conservative can’t win in Delaware, fine, but scr*w (This is a family friendly blog) voting in the RINOs just so we can say the Republicans control congress.

I’d rather the Democrats retain control and be blamed than have Republicans in charge who won’t roll back the frickin’ Obama agenda.

RINOs need to be purged from the party and the Castles of the political scene need to be persuaded to switch parties.

  17. RINOs must be hunted down and destroyed! We should have a national RINO shrine where their heads are placed…except they would need to be extracted from their asses first which would be quite messy! Or we could display them with their heads up their butts which could be like modern art or something…

  18. This was bound to happen since the “tea-party” is not a monolothic ideology/group/ or have any structured leadership. You all saw RINO blood for the letting good, but you probably should have made sure you had someone not insane to fill in after the sacrifice. Idiots pay better attention next time.
