lolbama! Part 75

This week, That One. Next week, terrorists. Submit for either at lolterizt@gmail.com

Meanwhile, pass ’em around, spread the love, and if you make your own, don’t be shy about dropping a link to your pics in the comments. The more, the merrier.

NOTE TO READERS: Hovering your mouse over the picture activates closed captioning for the l33t-speak/txtmsg impaired.

This week’s uncaptioned picture for you to play with [Hat tip: Wild Bill]:

For this week’s Obscury, I’m thinking AT’s Darth Obama quote. What say you?

PRODUCTION NOTES:
#1: When creating lolbama! pictures, please caption with either black or white text, as colors like red and yellow tend to blur badly when I compress the images.

#2: Standard image size for these posts is 350px wide by whatever high. If you can have your images 350px wide before you caption them, I won’t end up shrinking your captions into illegibility when I re-size the images.

MAKE YOUR OWN: The free lolbuilder from I Can Has Cheezburger.

STYLE NOTE: Short captions are usually better. Your goal is 10 words or less, with humor value tending to increase exponentially as the number of words approaches 1.

Send your submissions to lolterizt@gmail.com and – if they aren’t obscene (IMAO is a PG-13 site) and don’t suck too terribly bad – I’ll post them for you. Remember to include your name (and blog URL, if applicable) so I know who to thank.

  1. I take exception to comparing Obama to one of the Sith. (the Darth Obama thing) His actions have been more consistent with those of the Jedi Order. Meanwhile, the Sith are pretty much consistent with Ayn Rand:

“Equality is a perversion of the natural order!…It binds the strong to the weak. They [the weak] become anchors that drag the exceptional down to mediocrity. Individuals destined and deserving of greatness have it denied them. They [the strong] suffer for the sake of keeping them even with their inferiors.”

  2. I’m partial to how well Kris’s The Man Who Would Be King fits. It’s not just the title. (SPOILERS FOLLOW) In the movie, the natives become VERY unhappy when the person they thought was a god starts to bleed….

  4. I wish the Obscure Reference of the Week Award had been around when I was churning out loads of these things! (Been uninspired for some reason lately, but happy to enjoy others’ awesomeness.) I kept coming up with stuff weird enough that even Harvey had trouble finding a reference link. Maybe I should start up again.

  6. I have to say AT’s is the Obscurantism of the Week in my book. It’s especially cool since obscurans is Latin for “darkening” – so apropos for Darth Vader (Dark Helmet?).

The “twinkles” references are very good too – the utter ridiculousness of the OWSers just leaves me agog in wonderment.

Thanks to Lars, CrustyB and Apostic for the kudos – I aim to please! 🙂 Great point, by the way, Apostic – that’s just what I was thinking (figuratively, of course!).

Finally, I liked the airplane ‘shops, especially Basil’s. Why only two, H-man?

  7. Why only two? Good question.

Answer: the vast majority of entries this week used self-selected pics, rather than the uncaptioned I offered. As it turned out, most of the really good ones were self-selected, so when I was cutting the pile down to 15, most of the marginal ones that I tossed out had used the uncaptioned pic (lot of “under the bus” themed ones).

It’s pretty random how this happens. Other weeks, it’s been damn near all uncaptioneds that get posted. You never can tell.
