How to Make the Million Muppet March Achieve Its Goals

Activists are planning a “Million Muppet March” in DC to protest Mitt Romney’s threat to de-fund Sesame Street.

Um… shouldn’t they take the money they’ll spend on airline tickets & donate it to PBS, instead?

  1. Here’s the thing. If Sesame Street AKA Muppet headquarters is making millions why don’t they pay to fund PBS. Then they could run whatever propaganda they wanted to.

Or if every muppet donated to PBS they could replace what the government was spending and nothing would change.

But putting one’s money where one’s mouth is has never been a liberal adage.

  2. From the report: “They may fall short of attracting a million people, or Muppets, to the event, but they do hope to create what Bellavia called a “lovefest” featuring skits and musical performances with Muppets.”
Sounds like a cross between The Rocky Horror Picture Show and one of those Furry conventions. So bring both plastic sheeting and penicillin.

  3. A million people with absolutely no knowledge of how business works. Do they seriously not realize that even if the entire PBS network was to go away, the Disney Channel would immediately begin airing the Muppets? Any programs that have developed a sizable viewership will find a new home – those that haven’t, who cares that they go away if no one’s watching anyway?

  4. Harvey, your suggestion is logical enough, but here’s where it fails: That would involve them using their money to accomplish their ends. They’re more interested in using your money to accomplish their ends.

  5. @Son of Bob, they seriously do not realize. Otherwise GM could have gone bankrupt and saved we-the-people. There’s no strong brand recognition with Chevy, Caddy, Buick. Nope. Heaven forbid anything should fail so (because?) something better can take its place.
