The Bayonets Debate

Oy! Foreign policy debate! So boring! They just talked about all these places I’ve never even heard of. Like Mali? What even is that? Is that a country? Is it near Bali? Is Bali a country or did I just make that up?

So the last debate was especially designed to go over the heads of the low information voters that are still undecided, so I don’t see how either of them could get much traction in it. Still, Obama got in one good zinger. When Romney was going on about how we have less ships in the navy than under past presidents by saying we have fewer bayonets and horses too. Pretty good — except that we probably don’t have less bayonets since every Marine is issued one and still actively uses them. But to know things like that, Obama would have to have talked to or at least seen an active member of the military which is very much beneath him. So he’s little out of touch with what they’re doing. He thought the Navy SEALs that killed bin Laden were an actual group of trained seals.

But anyway, the important thing is that Obama finally took on that stupid navy we don’t need. Come on; it’s the Aquaman of the military. What threats do we have at sea? No one lives there. And I’ve never heard of water terrorists. And if we got rid of the Navy, with all the money we’d save, think of all the birth control we could buy Sandra Fluke.

And once again during the debate, Obama unveiled his solution for everything foreign and domestic: More teachers! Like they’re this fungible commodity, and if you just increase their number regardless of quality, everything gets better. Me, I hate teachers and want less of them. BTW, in my book where I solve everything, I show that the path to better education is in fact less schools and less teachers.

Anyway, expect Obama to have be declared the winner of this and Romney’s poll numbers to continue to move up as a result. Obama tried to paint him as a warmonger, but Romney was more of a boremonger — boring us with all the details he knows while not sounding very militaristic. In the end, he looked calm and presidential and Obama once again looked peevish and like someone trying to fight from behind.

Aw, man. I’m right-wing humorist. I can’t go back to having a Republican president. What will I make fun of?

  1. As someone said on another post about this subject……bet the corpse men have bayonets on their guns too. What will we do if Obama doesn’t get re-elected? While I’m sure Romney and Ryan will make some mistakes they won’t be able to out gaff Biden/Obama. Nor will they double down when they do make a mistake. Sigh.

  2. Mali’s most famous city is Timbuktu – an ideal new home for Obama. An ancient university city loaded with towelheads, and so far out in the Sahara that we’ll never have to hear his voice again.

  3. It might interest the Smartest Man In The World(tm) to know that during the intial invasion of Iraq a Marine unit actually fixed bayonets and charged across a bridge to attack the enemy. Another tidbit is that if it weren’t for bayonets Marines and Soldiers in the field would starve! Ever try opening an MRE with just your teeth?

  4. So if Romney should be elected perhaps you should quit your day job. Perhaps instead of being a mediocre right-wing “humorist” you could try being a teacher that you hate so much. We do need more teachers because smaller classroom sizes allow teachers to devote more individual attention to the students. But yes that would require higher taxes. Too bad higher taxes actually can improve a better quality of living. If you do not invest (as in taxes for education) in something you will not see a return. Instead you get ignorant bloggers shouting out their version of the “facts” and adding fuel to the fire of the ignorant masses. Sorry if any of my punctuation, spelling or grammar is out of sorts. I was educated in a right-wing system.

  5. We, truly, are, woefully, unable to grasp the seemingly infinite mind of Obama….going FORWARD!(tm) to the genius policies of 1916 and Woodrow Wilson. Yes, Wilsonian Isolationism (He Kept Us Out Of War), Wilsonian racism against Blacks and Irish, Wilsonian support of the (then) War Department-where the nationalized Reserves had to train with broomhandles because there weren’t enough rifles (Wilson probably thought victories could be had using archers and trebuchet crews.) Forward to Neo-Wilsoniansim!

We mere mortals are blinded and paralyzed before such brilliance.

  6. @EveLily:

“Ignorant Masses”?? “Invest(as in taxes for education”??

And you claim you were “educated in a right-wing system”?

    [peals of mocking, derisive laughter]

Your terminology betrays your latent Socialistic mindset.

Go off, child, and read some Whittaker Chambers and James Burnham and then come back and try to keep up with the grownups.

  7. @harvey. Thanks but actually I wasn’t trolling. I was merely pointing something out. After all it is election time and certain subjects do give cause for conversation. Its unfortunate that you label someone who does not agree with your point of view as a troll. I would never label any comment you would make contrary to my beliefs as being a troll. But then I probably should insert ignorant masses again.

  8. eve lily says she/he/it was educated in a “right wing system” and yet all her/his/it’s “solutions” are straight out of Moscow….hmmmmmm I think maybe he/she/it is confused.

Why is it back when class sizes were much bigger, education was so much better? hmmmmmm We spend more on education than anyone and he/she/it is the result. Do the math. Opps, asking people to do math is probably racist. oh well.

I’m sure the unions demand for smaller class sizes has nothing to do with more union members paying billions to the union and it’s really for the chilllllldren….right?

  9. @EveLily

No, one who does not agree with our philosophy is, most likely, a benighted, emotion-strangled, neo-hippie Leftist…not a troll.

Adjectives are perfectly fine-not to mention necessary-in the understanding of others…the pursuit of an amorphous intellectual existence for the sake of avoiding offending another is a pusilanimous aspiration.

Which is why gutless Lefties should NOT be left in charge of US national defense: they believe in appeasing, compromising, leading from the rear, surrender, etc. etc.

  10. @bunkerhillbilly. Your name speaks it all. Yes I was educated in a right-wing system. Your lack of understanding of context screams of being an ignorant hillbilly. I was pointing out that I am aware of my poor grammar. The system I was educated in voted down taxes to help with education. I missed out on a lot of oppritunities because of that. I was unfortunately educated in Arizona. One of the worst systems in the United States. Worse then even some territories such as gaum and peurto rico. Yes I have a liberal frame of mind because I chose to take my education into my own hands. I had a professor say once, ” don’t trust your parents, preachers or teachers. Question everything.” So I did. But thank you for chastising this 30 year old child. And just so you know, my socialistic mindset is more of a compliment than you may know. At least I admit I care about my neighbors and the children of my community. There is a difference between the idea of socialist democracy and communism. Your subtlelty was not lost on me. Chambers and Burnham (I’m making an assumption) are far more educated than you. I’m not saying that I agree with them, I’m just saying your attempt to insult me failed. Could you try again? Perhaps with a a little my “aints and yalls” that are suitable for your hillbilly rhetoric.

  11. My mission is complete. I got far more entertaining response then were previously posted. I love how childish “you guys” are. It does nothing to change my opinion and compounds what I had already thought. Sad really, I was hoping at least one of you had something intelligent to say. Oh well, have an amazing day in your amazing bubble!
    P.S.
There is something getting to know thy enemy.

  12. @ evelily….bless your pea pickin heart. You’re aware of your grammer deficiencies? If you are aware of them, why do you still have them? Why haven’t you repaired them?

I care about you, really I do. I hope you get everything in life you deserve.

    Have a nice day, Sunshine

  13. Quoth EveLily: @bunkerhillbilly. Your name speaks it all

Yes I was educated in a right-wing system. Your lack of understanding of context screams of being an ignorant hillbilly.

    [further howls of derisive laughter]

Bless her heart, she thinks I have defective dentition and my sleeve-length vastly exceeds my inseam. W’alll hesh mah mouf!

The name does indeed speak volumes…more towards geography than backwoodsiness…being as I am in walking distance to Fenway…but then you never considered that now did you?

“Right-wing system”?? So where was that, Argentina? Clearly not under a parochial tutelage in a Priory or convent by Dominicans or Benedictines. (THAT is a right-wing education.)

I ask that because, presuming your education was through the public system, at last check, Arizona was still one of the 57 states in the Union and, therefore, subject to the same common educational format as found in the other states. With said educational system being in thrall to the very-Liberal, union-dominated forces.

Unless, of course, you’re relating news that, during the course of your education, Arizona went “secesh”.

EveLily, nice try, but EPIC FAIL.

As to Chambers and Burnham, clearly your autodidacticism does not devolve to the simple use of Google or Wikipedia…as the reference evidently flew at altitudes, and velocities, well above your glider-pilot grade intellectual clearance.

Concerning injurious insults–sans “ain’ts and y’alls” for such colloquaillisms have yet to reach this metropolitan corner of New England–the rhetorical question begged is “has anyone checked to see if EveLily has Everlast tattooed on her forehead?” It’s like tapping on an underinflated speedbag.

  14. Jimmy, thank you sir, I aim to entertain as I edjumikate or illucidate.

Pity EveLily is ignorant as to the historical impact of Burnham and Chambers (who, were they still on the green side of the turf, would be sporting shoes I would feel unworthy to shine)…but, I bet she could prattle on about Abbie Hoffman or the malodorous scruffs in Rage Against The Machine though.

  15. IMAO is childish? What you are failing to consider, eve lily, is that we are rubber and you are glue and whatever you say bounces off of us and sticks to you. That’s just physics, really.

Do Congress next, Frank! Hippies abound there!

  16. @Frank J… “Aw, man. I’m right-wing humorist. I can’t go back to having a Republican president. What will I make fun of?”

If you ask me, liberals are even funnier when they are OUT of power! They get angrier, more petulant, whinier and act like a bunch of toddlers who just had their shiny new toy taken away by an adult because they refused to stop hitting people over the head with it despite repeated warnings. Best of all, they can’t do any more harm to the country without the power that was taken away, so its a win-win!!!

Let the “out years” begin! I look forward to the laughs!

  17. Regarding the Navy ships issue, it shows how out of touch Mr. Obama is about the military he commands. Mr. Obama is clearly of the mindset that warfare is “fire and forget” and “push the button and watch the video later.”

Mr. Obama would’ve been smart to consult with Gen. Colin Powell, who got it right when he told Congress, “”Lying offshore, ready to act, the presence of ships and Marines sometimes means much more than just having air power or ship’s fire when it comes to deterring a crisis. And the ships and Marines may not have to do anything but lie offshore. It is hard to lie offshore with a C-141 or C-130 full of airborne troops.”

…and every one of those Marines waiting on those ships is issued a bayonet.
