Personally, I still say the best caliber is whichever one that’s in the firearm you actually have on you when you need it.

  1. I don’t know why they’re making so much fun of the 9mm.
I know for a fact that it can penetrate a steel bulldozer blade, if you’re using cop-killer bullets! I saw it in a documentary called “Lethal Weapon”.

  2. Heh-heh; did you see the story on Blackfive a few years ago about the vet who shot burglar with a .22? The bad guy lived to run away since the bullet skidded off (or around) his skull. The vet was given grief by his buddies for opening a gun battle with a pistol whose caliber didn’t start with ‘4’. The crowd gave the vet the benefit of the doubt that it was old ammunition.

  3. In the past 100 years of murdering people in America, the 22LR is the top performer. If all you really want to do is make a criminal change his mind from violence to “run Away” mode, getting shot at by any caliber is enough in most cases.

  4. .45 if you’re looking to put down primitive Phillipine tribesmen (or other rampaging badguys)…shotgun flechette rounds if you really want to have fun taking out troublemakers.
