He’s worked hard all his life, and in his spare time he creates something beautiful – because it makes him happy.
The American Dream, in microcosm.
Your challenge: watch the video and feel grumpy afterwards.
I hope you fail.
I know I did.

Little masterpieces. Loved it. 🙂
Btw, I can’t think of a single reason to mention libertarians or thieves with respect to this post. Too beautiful.
This man does seem to be a wonderful carpenter, however. 🙂
Important life-lessons from this video:
With the pliers – sometimes it’s just one tiny strand of wood that keeps the whole thing from working.
With the match chain – this is #10. The other nine broke because they don’t use the best wood for matches.

No bacon for me this morning. 🙁
@5 – delivery of your bacon has been postponed until evening. I guess I shouldn’t have used StorkEx – they are SO slow! 🙂
Many moons ago I worked in a living-museum type place (think Williamsburg without the money), pretending to be the town carpenter. One day an old gent came in who actually knew something about woodworking–he didn’t seem to mind talking to an ignoramus as long as I was willing to listen. He came by a few times over the summer I was there. One day he gave me a little hand-carved monkey wrench he’d made. Still got it 30 years later, and it still astonishes me.
I think it was the same deal–he had been a builder, but did the intricate carving for fun, especially after he’d retired.
