Ira Gershwin, George’s brother and the lyricist for most of George’s songs, was born December 6, 1896, in New York. Here is the incomparable Ella Fitzgerald singing “Someone to Watch Over Me”, by the Gershwins:
Hey I.J. aren’t you a little early tonight?
It looks as if Basil just re-labeled the Tuesday night open thread as Wednesday’s. Look at the time that I posted – Wednesday morning.
Nope. Here’s what happened. I scheduled Tuesday night’s. Then I scheduled Wednesday nights. But, I had also scheduled Wednesday morning’s cartoon (7:00 am). When I entered the time for the Open Thread post, I repeated the 7:00 am time of the cartoon.
So, on Tuesday night, the Tuesday Open Thread posted. Then at 7:00 am Wednesday, both the cartoon and the Wednesday Open Thread posted. Two comments made it before I realized it. I changed the time from 0700 to 2100. When Wednesday night came along, the Thread, with both comments, appeared.
So, IJ(TDOT) posted on the early Wednesday, thinking it was the Tuesday thread, but it was really the Wednesday thread?
Seems to me that if this Basil person, if he really exists, would do his job right, we wouldn’t have these problems.
I may want to check and see if IMAO is hiring.
Umm, did I change time zones with out realizing it?
Good on ya doc…good on ya. Remember tomorrow is Pearl Harbor Day.
Is it just me or did Spike Jones look a little like Jimmy Cagney?
In my opinion, he did, indeed. That’s one of my favorite videos, by the way.
Pietro Mascagni, the composer of Cavalleria Rusticana, one of the truly great operas, was born December 7, 1863. Here is the intermezzo from it; you may recognize it as music used in the movie Raging Bull, although, given my lack of familiarity with pop “culture”, the movie may well have been Frozen.
