“Also, Cracked is totally a ripoff of MAD Magazine”
Heh.
I won’t jump into an esoteric fray here, but there are essays, essays, and essays written about #7 — did Sherlock Holmes rip off C. Auguste Dupin?
All give Poe credit for originating the detective genre itself, and for Dupin’s original method. And Doyle has Sherlock refer directly to Dupin’s method in two separate stories (once mentioning Dupin by name). Nevertheless, Holmes’ arsenal of techniques — and his character development, hence his popularity — went far beyond what Poe described.
The Princess Leia/Dejah Thoris thing is kind of stretch. Leia wore the bikini in only one of the movies, while Dejah Thoris–like the rest of her people (the Red Martians)–was naked almost all the time (except for a harness to carry weapons in). If Princess Leia had been naked, I would have easily forgiven George Lucas any plagiarism.
