Seen anything lately that made you smile?

The Olympics are mostly boring and too full of commercials, and I hate that it’s impossible to find a broadcast schedule so that I can just tune in to watch the good stuff.

That said, I accidentally watched the women’s snowboarding half-pipe competition. You get three runs, and only your highest score counts.

Chloe Kim (an American) had the gold locked up after her second run. All she had to do was slide down the middle of the pipe for her third run as a formality.

Instead, she pulled out all the stops, popped her best tricks, and beat her own medal-earning score.

She didn’t have to, but she did it anyway, because it’s fun.

That made me smile.
