Ross Douthat has a powerful column (in the NYTimes of all places) of how the feminist cause of abortion has ultimately harmed women to quite a great degree. Because of sex-selection abortions, there are now a total of 160 million missing women when you look at the gender imbalance in places like China and India (Lori Ziganto has more details here). And the imbalance, of course, does not lead to happy lives for the women who did survive. So by championing being able to dispose children as the ultimate expression of feminism, feminist have caused huge harm to women worldwide that will take decades to repair… if “feminists” were interested in repairing it. This is one of those things where we’re told this is just “progress” and we’re foolish to try and halt it and move things the other direction, but it’s our duty to at least try.

Missing? Yeah, they’re “missing” in the same sense that Germany is “missing” a lot of Jews.
It is going to make it a lot easier for Ohio girls to get dates. They may have to travel a little bit though.
It seems to me there’s a shortage of men, also. (Nah, I ain’t goin’ there: “real men”… “manly men”… “masculine men”… etc., because sons of the Irish know what they are!)
There can’t be any manly men anymore Jimmy! When a young boy starts to act manly his parents go ape sh_t and take him immediately to a therapist who drugs the bajeebers out of him! He is then told that before he can go outside and play he must wear a helmet, elbow and knee pads and a nut cup! And he is forbidden from doing anything manly like play with a toy “GUN”!!! This will get him arrested and taken down to the police station where some ugly hag with sensible shoes will have a nice long talk with him!!! Nope, we are raising a nation of weenies!!! I guess it’s up to us going forward to do all the manlyness stuff… Like taking care of all the babes and such. At least the ones that weren’t sucked out of their mother’s womb with a vacuum cleaner and thrown in the trash!
Try New York, Jimmy. I hear it’s raining men there.
There are no words my language skills give me to express the disgust I feel.
However, I can say that I’m not surprised. Abortion is, in my opinion, a tool of the Devil and his side of living, and those sorts of things have come in all shapes and sizes for many years.
Anyway, no matter whether you’re a Christian or an Atheist, no matter whether you agree with that point, I think and hope you’ll admit that the people responsible for these monstrosities are well past the point of being able to recognize their wrongs without some kind of miracle.
I wonder how many missing liberals there are due to abortion? How can we increase that number?
If felons, illegal immigrants, ficticious persons, and the dead can vote democrat, can aborted babies vote democrat, too?
lol @ DamnCat
Raining men, DamnCat? In New York? More like hesheits.
One of the biggest compliments I’ve ever received as a parent was the day my two son’s and I walked into my 3rd grader’s classroom and his teacher said, “Hi, men!”
Funny hat off…at the center of liberalisim is a need to destroy and kill. Through taxation bleed to death the producers. Through welfare encourage sloth and greed. Through abortion by plain murder. As I said earlier today, babies and the elderly are first because they can’t hit back.
@MarcoMancuso: God bless you. I’ve always felt that atheists are even more in need of a bright-line rule of law – you may not take an innocent life. Those who profess to believe in Science! cannot escape the fact that a human embryo is a complete and genetically distinct human life – so they fall back on value judgments as to what that life is “worth” compared to the mother’s desire to finish school, punish her boyfriend, have a flat belly for the prom, protect her 40 year old teacher from going to jail for statutory rape, hide her active sexual life from her parents, genetically select only male offspring, go on that cruise without feeling morning sickness, avoid the responsibilities of parenting a handicapped or “imperfect” child, save some money, get more secure in her career, etc., etc., ad nauseam – but when we object, we are forcing our outmoded, religious “values” on them. A life is a life, and women who pay an abortionist to kill their children are morally guilty of murder, no matter how the law defines it. (Remember that the Jews were legally defined as less than human – Untermenschen – so that killing them wasn’t legally murder, either. There is a reason we call them Feminazis – they are just like Hitler!)
I completely support the complete criminalization of all direct abortions, as well as long prison terms for medical personnel who perform or assist in performing abortions.
So what does God do with all those aborted souls? Try again?
God: “Whoops! Sorry, Ma’am, the people down there are idiots. And murderers! You’ll have to get in line again and wait for the next scheduled soul insertion.”
Woman: “As you request, dear God. But I’d rather not go down there. Those women scare me.”
God: “I know. If this keeps up, I’m going down there and KICK SOME ASS!”
I have often wondered why fetuses — especially female fetuses — don’t have the right to make choices about their own bodies. Isn’t the “I’m bigger and stronger, so I get to control you” line of reasoning the thing feminists’ complain men do?
Jesus had some very harsh things to say about anyone who messes with children! “Better a millstone be tied around his neck and he be tossed in the sea” and all! Murderers of children anywhere including in the womb are in for a very bad surprise!
“One of the biggest compliments I’ve ever received as a parent was the day my two son’s and I walked into my 3rd grader’s classroom and his teacher said, ‘Hi, men!'”
Would it be too childish to break out the “hymen” crack?
ussjc,
Years ago, I made a crack during birthing class that made me worry. We’re going around in a circle, talking about what it will be like to have a baby. Comes to my wife and me and I say, “I plan on living out all my failed hopes and dreams through my son and pushing him, like in ‘The Great Santini.'” The reactions ranged from frowns to puzzlement, as if they’d never watched one of the greatest parenting movies in the history of mankind.
On other sites, they talk about what will happen when they find “the gay gene.” Will liberals continue to support abortion, knowing folks will start aborting gay children? Will they find a reason to outlaw testing for it before abortions?
Sounds like a good solution to the 19th Amendment problem.
I’m an atheïst and I oppose abortion. But I don’t think liberals are truly atheists. They are religious because they believe in a soul. When you ate a true atheist you realize EVERY life is unique and wants to live. Ugly life, handicapped life, life with three eyes or just one leg. It wants to live.
Not only that, but this ugky three eyed handicapped one legged kid might -exactly because of the absurd situation he’s in- turn out to be a genius. Do you think liberal parents would have let Stephan Hawkins be born had they known he would develop such a disease? What a loss!
Only religious people can accept abortion. They believe there is a soul and because of this belief one would be easier inclinded to accept the destruction of the body. After all, souls are eternal. There will be a different body to reside in, a healthier one. A better one. Atheists know this is not true.
You don’t actually eat atheists…
@ Daniel: But I hear that with a little gravy or ketchup, atheists can be damned tasty… You sure they aren’t for eatin’?
#20 “You don’t actually eat atheists…”
Darn. There goes my whole emergency food storage plan.
The imbalance between men and women in China increases every year.
When the number of Chinese men who can’t find dates for their prom (IYKWIMAITYD) exceeds 200 million then we come into Real Apocalypse territory.
Rev. 9:16 & 16:12 – 6th trumpet and 6th bowl judgments.
(My interpretation of these verses may be open to debate, but it Is kind of creepy – I’m just sayin’…)
“Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just.”
– Thomas Jefferson (He was referring to slavery, but the quote also applies here.)
