Some time back, I had postulated, as I am wont to do, that particle colliders should be constructed of the densest matter in the known universe: Burritos. I am read to accept funding for research.
But why would you want to shut liberals up. Last time I talked to liberals I learned all sorts of things. I learned that I am: racist, a clown, close minded, and an idiot. How would I have learned these things about myself If I had not listened to those wise, caring, and all around nice liberals?
I have a brain dead sister like that (member of The Church of Global Warming of Latter Day Cranks – AND she drives a Prius!). Her favorite expression when suddenly engaged in a two-sided discussion is, “I’m not going there.” She also has bananas in her ears.
What’s the point of ANWR? You can’t feed the hungry with it, you can’t cure cancer with it, you can’t stop poverty with it. Alaskan wildlife preserves benefit the wealthy 1% (less than that, really) who actually have the time and money to visit them, while the 99% masses are denied the many benefits of productive use of the resources. Power to the 99%! (In the case of ANWR, literally.) Drill, baby, drill!
BTW, I have used a similar argument on libs who go all moonbat crazy at the enormous amounts of money spent on church buildings, especially cathedrals, basilicas and the like. I absolutely agree, then draw a parallel to public spending on things without tangible benefits to the needy: ALL public art should be de-funded immediately. Screw PBS and NPR. Dissolve the NEA. Get rid of the liberal arts in community colleges, colleges and universities – public money should only be spent on teachers who teach something useful (engineering, utilitarian architecture, medicine). Sell every public art installation for scrap. Dismantle the national museums and sell the collections to foolish private collectors with more money than sense. Give the proceeds to the poor!
You will notice that when it comes to public spending, it is never a zero-sum game for libs. Every penny spent on a cathedral was wrenched from the bleeding hands of the oppressed poor. When it comes to the government, however, we do not need to cut cherished programs in order to give money to the poor – we just need to raise taxes and subsidize everything.
