It is funny, or incredibly creepy, but I was just thinking about this very thing this morning. I think that if you designate any specific building or area as “Gun Free” you should take on total security for anyone using that building or area. Also, total responsibility and liability for anything that harms or deprives someone of their property while “Under your security”. No outs, no buts, if some nut comes in and shoots up your “Protected by sign” customers or whatever you are liable for any all damages and costs to anyone affected. If you allow people their own means of security, within reason, you are then, within reason, only responsible if there is negligence or some other foreseeable circumstance in play. I think that would be fair.
