I think it’s obvious from the actions of Patrick Kennedy and Cynthia McKinney that the Democrats have a culture of corruption. It is thus important that, anytime we mention the Democrats, we work the phrase “culture of corruption” in our commentary. Actually, we should just shout “Culture of corruption!” over and over until we feel so retarded we punch ourselves. I’m not sure what that achieves, but that’s politics.
Can we try to shut the debate down by screaming RACIST and XENOPHOBE, as well? I’ve had those tossed directly at me, and Democrats clearly care more about race than any Republican.
(I feel the universe creaking at the joints… it must be working… or maybe it’s just Robert Byrd’s arthritis.)
News of hope for the Kennedy family in DC, as only National Nitwit can present.
PSU Dain,
It’s nice to see there’s another Penn Stater here!
The Dems were the party for slavery before and during the civil war, and the party of George Wallace during the fight for civil rights. Just how they manage to constantly claim the moral high ground is amazing to me. Never confuse the issue with FACTS, I guess.
Is this another attempt to Kos-ify yourself?
You’re going to have to drink a lot of retarded puppy smoothies to even get close to the necessary level of stupidity and evil.
Can I jus abbreviate then?..C of C..C of C..k I’m gettin the hang of it..lolz..
I thought the Dems were “culture of treason.”
Whenever these lefties yell “chickenhawk” I hit back with “crocodile tears.” It drives them nuts!
The Dems were the party for slavery before and during the civil war, and the party of George Wallace during the fight for civil rights.
That statement is true as far as it goes; it omits, however, the role that the Democratic party played during the fight for civil rights. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was filibustered in the Senate (current Senator Robert Byrd was one of those filibustering).
http://www.senate.gov/artandhistory/history/minute/Civil_Rights_Filibuster_Ended.htm
The filibuster was broken by a bipartisan group of Senators, on a vote of 71-29. There were only thirty-three Republican Senators at the time, so there must have been at least thirty-eight Democratic Senators who voted for cloture, which, at the time, required 67 votes rather than the current sixty. I believe that Al Gore’s father, who was then a (Democratic) Senator from Tennessee, was among those voting both against cloture and against the act, which passed soon afterwards on a vote of 73-27.
I don’t like today’s Democrats (or those of the past thirty years or so) any better than anybody else here, but there were Democratic Senators in 1964 who did the right thing, even though they knew perfectly well that it would cost their party its lock on the South.
A somewhat curious footnote is that the Democrats stripped Strom Thurmond of his seniority for voting against cloture, so he switched parties.
But if we do that, won’t we grow dumb monkey faces, too?
You know, this whole Patrick Kennedy thing is just another glaring example of the Politics of Personal Self-Destruction.
You forgot about our friend Congressman William Jefferson. He so corrupt that even other Democrats notice his corruption!
Pelosi Wants… to Probe Rep. Jefferson
That’s a freaky grandma right there.
guys, guys, guys… don’t we all know that the liberal party in the US during the civil war was the republican party? and that the democratic party was the conservative party? remember that crazy liberal president lincoln, he was so liberal that he wanted black people to be free of slavery! lets all recall that it wasn’t until the civil rights movement that the fundamental social conservative/liberal scale tipped, and the balance of conservativism fell into the hands of republicans. the civil rights bill in the hands of crazy-liberal president johnson, (whos advisors told him that if he signed the bill the south would go RED for an entire generation, b/c repubs hated civil rights) was passed by a majority of liberal democrats, NOT conservatives, and certainly not elected officials from the SOUTH! ie strom, who realized how unpopular the civil rights bill was in the south, so in order to win re-election had to switch parties and become a republican, since at the time republicans hated civil rights…..who earlier ran as a segragationist for president… simple point: party name does NOT determine the level of conservativism or liberalism, they determine themselves, and change over time.
to the guys writing about democrats and their ‘culture of corruption’, maybe we should remember all of the republican leadership officials who are either under investigation or indicted felons. -JOHN
John has it just right. Just because Democrats lead the Confederate States of America is no reason to associate them with slavery. Just because when the Democrats retook control of Congress in the late 1880s and undid all the civil rights laws passed by the Republican controlled Congress following the CIvil War is no reason to blame them for the lack of civil rights legislature for the next 80 years. Just because Democrats controlled the southern states for the next 90 years and passed all the Jim Crow laws is no reason to blame them for the lack of Civil Rights in the South. Just because Democrats fillibustered against Civil Rights legislature everythime it came up in the 1960s is no reason to state that Democrats were hostile to Civil Rights for African Americans. Over 60% of Democrats voted for the Civil Rights Acts while only a little over 90% of the Republicans in Congress voted for those same acts. Just because 100 Southern Democrats signed the “Southern Manifesto” as a repsonse to Brown v. Board of Education is no reason to think that they were hostile to equal protection under the law for minorities. Strom Thurmond, one of the one hundred switched parties, so it seems obvious that Democrats have always been for Civil Rights and Republicans have always been against Civil Rights.
The History of the Democratic Party is nothing but discrimination against one group of people. For their first hundred and fifty years they discriminated against African Americans and other minorities, and now to make up for it, they discriminate against whites. It’s nice to see that they are consistent about one thing anyway.
DrEvil, you’re expecting the libs to see what they consider your skewed view of history and they are obviously not going to bother with trying to find references ’cause those are just factual plants from the evil vast right wing conspiracy.
