I forgot where I saw this, but here’s a Calvin and Hobbes comic that pretty well sums up current attitudes about the economy.

Beautifully illustrated, ah double entendre there. Bill Watterson, who used to work for Disney back in the day, is probably one of the most talented, ingenious, as well as truly under appreciated, cartoonists/illustrators in the biz. Its lackwit quipsters with dry rot for brains like Trudeau who get all the fame and accolades; when they truly deserve a bike chain to the face, or one of their trade paperbacks jammed into their small intestine. But selah….

The writer must have worked for General Motors at one time.
Hey Frank,
I just picked up my latest handgun and HAD to tell someone. Thought of you right away! I got an “Ultra-lite” Taurus “Judge” model 4410. This 5 shot revolver chambers either .45 long colt OR 2-1/2″ .410 shotgun shells! With a 4″ barrel, this is legal to hunt deer with in my state. AWESOME revolver that fires shotgun shells!
Watch out “Zombies”

I guess I’m old, but I remember when there were several good comics to read each day. Bloom County, C&H, Far Side, etc… Get Fuzzy is about the closest thing to decent anymore.
Basically, I’m sayin’: More Frank The Artist!!!!!!1!!1!
Well my attitude is still: “Socialism is a failure, so move to the Netherlands if you disagree.”
Too bad that I don’t have a business selling ammo and dehydrated food, those businesses seem to be doing quite well thanks to President McChangerson.
We should all spend some time learning from ‘political cartoonists’ even when they are just plain “cartoonists” they have a venue that as a rule bypasses the censors. To prove the rule I’ll cite an exception “Doonesberry”. I still miss the “feather” I come here for that instead ….
Way to go Mgbfred, just put an order in for the 3″ Judge, the local gun shop (there used to be a dozen, we’re down to one thanks to the Clinton gun ban driving them out of business) had a single 3″ sample but couldn’t sell it, so I ordered one. Say a prayer for a couple reams of paper targets when this finally get’s through the city – county – state – federal – paper work and finally gets in my hands.
No sheet of paper nor hoodlum will be safe! not that any hoodlums were safe anyway, 6″ .357 Python, chuckle, chuckle!
That cartoon was scary accurate.
How many years ago was it published?
In this day and age of financial crisis, layoffs, and a failing stock market, it’s important to know how the financial system functions: 1. You How our system works: You just paid a dollar for a pack of gum, but you really did so much more. 2. Nearly one third of your dollar, 32 cents, went to the chewing gum company which will use it to pay it’s employees (who spend their money on products that pay your salary) and for research into better gum in the future. 3. Another 24 cents went to the store where you bought the gum, to pay for a clean buying environment, courteous service and of course more gum. 4. You also paid 21 cents to the foreign investors who actually own the chewing gum company to keep them from foreclosing on your country. Good thing to, imagine what life would be like if Chinese or Arab people ran everything! Besides gum is prohibitively expensive in China and you wouldn’t believe the flavors. 5. The next 11 cents of your dollar went straight to our men in uniform who are fighting to guarantee your right to chew gum anytime, anywhere. 6. An additional 8 cents out of your dollar paid for important government programs, such as the one that supports poor people so they won’t rob or kill you. 7. And finally, the last 4 cents of your dollar represents the actual value of the product you bought….and that’s like money right back in your pocket!
