This week, That One. Next week, terrorists. Submit for either at lolterizt@gmail.com

Meanwhile, pass ’em around, spread the love, and if you make your own, don’t be shy about dropping a link to your pics in the comments. The more, the merrier.

NOTE TO READERS: Hovering your mouse over the picture activates closed captioning for the l33t-speak/txtmsg impaired.

This week’s uncaptioned picture for you to play with:

PRODUCTION NOTES:
#1: When creating lolbama! pictures, please caption with either black or white text, as colors like red and yellow tend to blur badly when I compress the images.

#2: Standard image size for these posts is 350px wide by whatever high. If you can have your images 350px wide before you caption them, I won’t end up shrinking your captions into illegibility when I re-size the images.

MAKE YOUR OWN: The free lolbuilder from I Can Has Cheezburger.

STYLE NOTE: Short captions are usually better. Your goal is 10 words or less, with humor value tending to increase exponentially as the number of words approaches 1.

Send your submissions to lolterizt@gmail.com and – if they aren’t obscene (IMAO is a PG-13 site) and don’t suck too terribly bad – I’ll post them for you. Remember to include your name (and blog URL, if applicable) so I know who to thank.

“Look! It Federal Government!”

I’m pretty sure I’ve made this point before, but with another great expansion of government on the horizon, I should make it again.

The federal government is Godzilla. That’s the easiest way to look at it. It’s this giant, lumbering beast that is marginally under our command. So what do you do with such a thing? Well, if you need to destroy Tokyo (which is something we tasked our government with in the 40s), then it’s well suited for such a task. Godzilla is great at smashing things and can easily unleash havoc.

But let’s say we don’t need to smash something at the moment. Let’s say instead we want it to feed the poor. Well, I guess Godzilla could carry a bunch of food and try to hand it out to the little ants in front of it, but it’s likely to crush a bunch of people and smash a few buildings in the process. It’s so big, it might not even notice that and think it’s doing a great job. And the bigger we make Godzilla, the less it’ll hear our pleas and the more likely it is to unwittingly crush and destroy things while trying to be helpful.

And if Godzilla is in the middle of trying to help us and we accidentally make it mad…

So the solution is to task Godzilla with tasks away from domestic life where it can’t accidentally harm us, and try not to let Godzilla get too big so it is less likely to unwittingly crush us and is easier to control. Otherwise, we might lose all control of Godzilla, and then what’s the solution? That’s right: Mothra. And the problem is, if metaphorically Godzilla is the federal government, I have no idea what Mothra is supposed to be. But Mothra is a big, scary bug so it can’t be pleasant.

Repeal

Can we repeal Obamacare? I dunno. Sounds hard. Then again, it doesn’t go into full effect until 2013, so maybe we can get a new Republican in to squash it just before it goes into full effect. If we could do that, it would be even more awesome than blocking it in the first place.

Look at it this way. Let’s say there’s a little kid who’s wanted a cool robot toy for months. He’s obsessed with nothing but getting that awesome new toy. Then comes Christmas, and he opens his presents, and there it is! The toy he’s always wanted! He’s overjoyed! He can barely contain himself. He gets the toy out of its box and spends a while just looking at it and admiring it. Then he finally reaches over to play with it and…

I smash it to pieces with a bat right in front of him. “Ha! You’ll never get that toy, you stupid little kid!” I laugh. And he cries and cries, and I mock and laugh and film him for YouTube so everyone can see how pathetic and stupid he is.

That’s what repealing Obamacare would be like. Pretty awesome, huh?

Think Positive

If you’re looking for a pep talk in light of Bloody Sunday, here are some good words from the Whitler. Also, here’s some positive thinking from Sarah Palin.

There’s no use in conservatives getting too down in any political defeat, because we’ll always still be our awesome selves, and liberals will still be losers who smell weird. If we want to succeed, we have to have a positive attitude and never freak out too much because things didn’t go our way. It’s exactly the same as when you try to put a saddle on a grizzly bear and ride it like a horse; if you lose your confidence or panic, disaster could strike.

We’re conservatives; we have useful things to do. We don’t have time for lots of useless yelling and freaking out. We know what we need to do and we do it, and afterward everyone is like, “Holy crap! He’s riding a grizzly bear!”

Random Thoughts

With the Founding Fathers, even proposing a giant government expansion like this would have gotten you a musket to the junk.

We want public servants, but we always get tyrants who think they serve best by being our rulers.

You can argue for the health care bill and say it’s for the greater good, but never again tell me you’re against fascism.

You can’t keep expanding government and be against fascism. That’s like denouncing shark attacks while chumming the water.

“We’re going to need a bigger country.”

Before liberals get all angry, maybe the guy who called Stupak a “baby killer” mistakenly thought he was in the military.

I’ll cover the left for a newspaper. I find them oddly fascinating. Actually, I would love to do scientific experiments on the left in a lab setting.

As opposed to my basement. I always feel creepy when I bring kidnapped people to my basement.

It will be interesting to see if the Supreme Court finds any limit on the government’s ability to force people to buy things. The Supreme Court is a wacky bunch. Who knows what they’ll say?!

If there are no limits, Republicans should introduce a bill requiring everyone to get guns and Bibles.

Know how in Star Trek they just handwave something as possible because of “tachyon particles”? That’s the Commerce Clause.

Remember people: Calm and assertive always gets the best results, whether commanding your dog or politicians.

I’m not hopeful on repealing Obamacare, but if we did it would be pretty funny. Even crueler than just blocking it. It would be like a kid finally getting that toy he always wanted for Christmas and then smashing it with a bat in front of him.

As a conservative, I always imagine victory in terms of a child crying.

The only thing government is competent at is destroying things. That’s why I like it best when it’s pointed at other countries.

Why people are so angry? It’s because they feel a huge injustice has been done. If you don’t see why, you need to work harder to understand.

Disagreement – even vehement disagreement – is fine, but not understanding the other’s viewpoint only makes you a fool.

Liberals do not understand conservatives’ viewpoints — this has been demonstrated by Science! — and this is a problem. There are ignorant conservatives, but for the most part they understand what liberals are trying to do and just think it’s a bad idea.

Liberals cling to labels like “racist” because they don’t understand and need to cling to some explanation.

Both liberals and conservatives want what’s best for everyone and just disagree on how to achieve that.

Note for conservatives: There’s a lot of passion, but we have to clamp down on silliness. Real conservatives don’t engage in impotent rage.

It seems pretty bad in the 24 universe with all the nukes and terrorists and women presidents, but they don’t have Obamacare. Almost makes it paradise.

Poster that should be on the wall of every CTU building: “Always listen to Jack Bauer!”

If this is the final season of 24, it should end with a major review of CTU’s screening process.
