So the 11th circuit is discussing Obamacare and whether it’s constitutional for the government to force people to buy things.
That answer is “No”, by the way. Not just “No”, but “If you even contemplated allowing this, you should go to the nearest mirror, stare yourself in the eyes, and punch yourself really hard in the face.” This is just insane in a free country to think the government can force you to buy things, so much so that we really need to start deporting people for completely not understanding the concept of America.
If the Obamacare mandate is found constitutional (or to be more accurate, the judges conclude, “We don’t really care what the Constitution means”), think of what this will open the floodgates to. Amazon will lobby Congress until their Gold Box deals are mandatory. You think that’s crazy? Well think of how liberals’ infantile understanding of the economy will make them think, “If we force people to buy stuff, it will stimulate the economy!” And when do you think Michelle Obama’s crusade to get kids eat well turns into forcing parents to have to buy certain healthy foods. The way liberals think, if it’s worth doing, it’s worth having the full force of the federal government force people to do it. Eventually, the guys in D.C. sending crotch shots to girls on the internet will have spent all your paycheck before you even get it
Not sure what to do if the courts don’t strike it down. We’d need to get an amendment in place immediately. Otherwise, Republicans will just have to make liberals choke on it by forcing people to buy things like gun and ammo, gas guzzling SUVs, and bacon. Maybe all our money will be spent, but at least we’ll have cool stuff.
The way liberals think, if it’s worth doing, it’s worth having the full force of the federal government force people to do it.
Dat de trufe.
I live in an area surrounded by leftists, when I say I don’t like something, they call me a hypocrite for wanting the gov’t to stop it.
Seriously, they think that since I think something is bad that I then I want the gov’t to stop it.
My goal is a gov’t that only keeps people from killing, hurting or stealing each other’s stuff and punishes them when they do it.
Hurting yourself or other’s feelings shouldn’t be against the law.
Hell, in some instances hurting other’s feelings is actually required.
Is it too late to say, “First!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”?
In less than two hundred years, we have gone from states seceding to protect the idea of humans as property to some Americans hoping and praying certain states (Texas, Alaska, I’m waiting) will consider secession to crush the now celebrated dogma of humans as government pawns.
By the way, this is the Constitution the judges will cite.
Well, when it’s a conservative issue the useless elected Republicans immediately give up after the first negative ruling by a far left-wing court and it’s dropped. When it’s furthering socialism, the liberals keep putting it in front of courts until they finally get a ruling they like, no matter how absurd and unconstitutional it is, and then tell everyone it’s “settled forever,” at which point the useless elected Republicans immediately kowtow and agree that they can never again raise the issue of Roe v. Wade, Obamacare, etc.
“Republicans will just have to make liberals choke…”
…on a stick. With a Jalapeño.
Either that, or we’ll have to make Republicans choke on a stick. Without a Jalapeño.
I fear this will turn out as badly as most of the other irrational unconstutinal rulings. Expect not only Obamacare to be upheld, but a national requirement to hang pictures of Obama and Pelosi in everyone’s homes as homage as well.
marco found the bedtime story Obama was read to as a child.
“the guys in D.C. sending crotch shots to girls on the internet (and giving waivers to their own districts) will have spent all your paycheck before you even get it”
I’d suggest we make the Democrats choke on wieners but I don’t think that would be punishment for most…
All of the 11th Circuit Court judges are Clinton appointees. Which way do we think it’s going to go? And Obama stands in his office and goes Muwhahahahahahah! And the republicans (they don’t deserve capitalization anymore) hide under their desks waiting for someone to make the bad man go away! Oh, and then they all get together and try and and make us choke on a guy that passed ObamaCare before Obama, was for abortion before he was against it and believes that man is causing Global Warming! And Obama sits in his office and goes MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
@8: I KNEW you were gonna say that!
Uh Oh…Jimmy and I are starting to think alike. That’s problematic since he’s a Phycho!
Our choice is between the government forcing us to buy something vs. the government first confiscating our money and then buying it for us. I hate to break it to you, Frank, but they are equivalent. What is truly incredible is that the Democrats have gone way out of their way to highlight their equivalence, since it is an equivalence that ticks people off.
You can’t use that word, ussjimmycarter. It’s the name of a moon in my system. Besides, you speled it wronng.
What’s exactly IS a Phycho?
“What If the ObamaCare Mandate Isn’t Struck Down?”
Then Obama’s death panels will literally push your granny off a cliff.
@Jimmy “summerize” ring a bell? Do I have to make a clerical proclamation that missspellings are to be hallowed as individual expressions of each person’s inner uniqueness? Are we to be bound by Webster and his ilk? Nay say I. Throw off the opressive yoke of slavery of the man. POWRE TO TEH PEOBLE
Yes it does, Ed. And I’m still waiting for sum. And no you don’t.
Phyco is what the government withholds out of may paycheck each week, right?
No, no, Joe. Phyco is where ussjimmycarter is in his dreams: in the penal colony of Rura Phyco. It’s similar to Rura Penthe, birthplace of the FIKOTUS.
I can’t wait until January 1, 2014. No more a slave to insurance companies. This will free me up to WORK for whoever I want to work for without the hassle of worrying about finding an employer with decent health care programs because non of them are responsible enough to provide it. If the law is overturned we are going to get a single payer system which should make the best of the greedy insurance corporations whine!!!
a phycho is a psycho who’s been scared s-less. Think of go to sleep with Sarah (Palin or Mrs IMAO) and waking up next to Moochelle. eww, I frightened myself.
Dick:
I’m already not a slave to insurance companies. How did you become one?
I have found that most of the people at work who supported Obamacare don’t work worth a damn. They figure everything is owed them: insurance, paycheck, everything. They’re useless. Like every other Obama supporter I’ve met.
@Jimmy 5: I think you meant “steeeeeeck,” not “stick.”
Oh, a troll.
“because non {SIC} of them are responsible enough to provide it.”
Dick isn’t responsible enough to provide his own healthcare, Basil. He want’s someone else to do it for him. Got news for ya, Dick. I’m not.
Sorry, Crabby, I hit submit before refreshing. But you’re right! Not only should it be “steeeeeeck,” not “stick,” but that would be good “schtick,” too. Und… (ok, no German)
A FABULOUS post.
Basil, my husband is an Obama supporter. He’s not useless… and I still haven’t figured out how that works, either.
Carolyn, if you had said boyfriend instead of husband, oh, honey, would I have a suggestion or two for you. But I’ll pray instead.
@Jimmy and Basil: How dare you not acknowledge that Dick’s healthcare is YOUR responsibility, not his? F*@king greedy capitalist employers won’t recognize THEIR responsibilities to him, so Obama had no choice but to shift the burden to the taxpayers. Now Dick is free! Free to take any job he wants to take, whether or not the employer is competitive and successful enough to offer good healthcare benefits. Why should Dick have to worry about such things? F*#king greedy insurance companies, insisting on making a profit and not providing free healthcare – I mean, “insurance” – for people with pre-existing conditions! They brought it on themselves, capitalist swine! Now YOU can jolly well pay for Dick, AND for his girl-friend’s serial abortions! It’s his CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT!!! (Because the Constitution is an evolving document, doncha know, and some liberal judge will find the right to free healthcare in there somewhere. It has a very elastic penumbra.)
How fitting, really, that his name is “Dick.” I would call him that, I think, even if his mother had not been the first to do so.
Oooooooh, I got moderated!
I never could get the ‘bad word list’ out of anyone here. When in doubt, Crabby, change spellings, use lots of ***’s, invert your i’s to !’s and sprinkle in some umlauts und stûtff.
Carolyn:
Have I met your husband? If not, that may explain why we’re both right.
@Jimmy: There weren’t any bad words that did not have at least two nonsense symbols thrown in. It must have been the all caps; I had another comment moderated (on the “Hot Conservative Women” thread) that didn’t even have a bowdlerized bad word in it – but it did have one word in all caps, for emphasis. All caps = shouting, much worse than swearing!
No worries, Basil and Marko. I notice that lately he tries to tell me he’s more centrist than I think he is, so that tells me he is coming around. If that doesn’t work, pray for us come election season.
Quite frankly Basil I agree with your assessment of Obama supporters. It kills me because I listen to my friends who support him make their points, and I have to use the best poker face ever to hide what I’m thinking (which is: My gosh you’re so oblivious to the point that it hurts my head).
I’ll say this much for Dick – he strikes out at insurance companies and quite frankly, they brought this on themselves. He’s got that much right. But Dick, did it ever occur to you that the solution would be to allow any company to operate in any state so that there would be competition? That would IMMEDIATELY drive down cost and increase access. Also, that would bring MANY supporters of this bullcrap law around to the right side.
@Kevin #13: The end game is to force a government monopoly on health care delivery. Obamacare has always been designed to drive citizens to government provided healthcare. The mandate is critical to making that happen.
I am from Phyco. I am a Phycon.
Carolyn:
You’re dead on target. Government is keeping insurance companies from competing across state lines. And what’s the government’s solution to problems caused by the government? More government, of course.
What? That fire is burning? Let me apply more matches and gasoline. That’ll put it out. And, if not, we’ll add more matches and gasoline until it quits burning!
I agree with Ed! You tools of oppressive spelling masters like Websters and Microsoft Spell Check! Ha! I say! I shall spell words as I like and you shall like them as I spell them! Or I shall appear as a moron! Whatever works… Hey, I went to puplic schools…
see, here’s the problem with those instructions–they’re Clinton appointees. They’re going to hit the mirror.
Ooohhhhhhhh, I get it, there’s that artery on the wrist, glass mirror, maybe we get lucky?
@Burmashave: I agree that is the goal but calling it a “mandate” is not critical. They could achieve universal healthcare constitutionally with a tax (and a tax credit if you bought your own). But “tax” is a dirty word, so they played semantics and it is backfiring.
My point is that an amendment to outlaw mandates of purchase from third parties is irrelevant if it doesn’t also limit the ability to tax and spend. Taxes are the mother of all purchase mandates. With taxes, they don’t even have to tell you what you are buying!
Phyco is seeweed, right? Phycon is a buff conservative? Or is all this phycho stuff just to get around the profanity filter?
I know where this is going and I don’t like it one bit! Once the government takes over, they will implement wiener recognition software and every time you visit your doctor you will have to whip out your schlong and slap it down on a pad which will read it like a bar scanner and will verify that it’s you!!! I don’t want my wiener laying anywhere where other wieners have been laying!!!
@Kevin: I think we pretty much agree. Obamacare and the mandate are the “non-tax” solution that will lead to socialized healthcare if all goes according to the nefarious plans of liberals.
You know it just occurred to me. This is a great way to get rid of conservatives and those despised by the left. Murder by medicine, Political euthanasia. They don’t want to throw grandma under the bus. They want to throw conservatives under a bull dozer. It is the way they work.
That’s what I love about IMAO and Frank J. He never beats around the bush, letting you guess at what he really thinks.
The problem is one of ideological orientation. If you think government exists to do stuff, whatever stuff you think needs doing, then requiring people to do what they don’t want (this is known as coercion) is fine. After all, you know best.
If, on the other hand, you think that the purpose of government is to do those things for The People (who are, by the way, sovereign) that they can’t better do for themselves and that you’ve helpfully listed those things, as well as the methodology to be employed in their implementation (this is known as a Constitution); well, you can see where there’ll be some disagreement.
I’ve quoted you and linked to you here: http://consul-at-arms2.blogspot.com/2011/06/re-what-if-obamacare-mandate-isnt.html
