On the other hand, it occurred to me that America sure has a lot of ex-presidents who are still alive. Four at the moment.
I notice that suckier countries tend to have fewer.
Russia – 1 (and he’s now Prime Minister)
Cuba – 1
North Korea – 0

George W. Bush just turned down an inviation to speak at the GOP Convention next month. Following the lead of his father and President Reagan he’s sticking to memoirs and charitable works and eschewing politics. Too bad Democrats lack such class.
Speaking of, DC, didja know that George W. Bush and Laura were recently in Africa building schools? They didn’t make a big deal out of it.
I did not know that Burma – and it doesn’t suprise me that I didn’t. They aren’t glory hounds like Clinton & Carter.
I think it’s been said here before, but the reason old Democrat politicians never fade away is because they don’t have anything else in their lives that matters to them, so if they leave politics, they cease to exist. Maybe they need a transition program to help them cope with retirement – something like Get A Life 101.
