California: Peeing on the Electric Fence

So because living in California wasn’t awful and expensive enough, power costs are about to go up 33% there because of their energy policies. The thing with California is that so many people are suffering there because of its high cost, high taxes, and high unemployment, so the challenge is to not laugh. I mean, people are really miserable, but at the same time they kept voting for this and the schadenfreude is so hard to resist. It’s like you tell someone over and over, “Don’t pee on that electric fence. It’s a bad idea.” But the guy is like, “Nah. It’ll be fun.” And then pees on it and screams, “Aieee! I shocked my wang!” And he’s in real pain — pure agony. But how can you not laugh? That’s California.

Well, no more electric fences in California; too expensive to keep on.

I remember back in 2000 going to job fairs while in college looking for a tech job, and they’d ask me, “What regions are you interested in living in?” And I’d say, “Anywhere in the U.S. but California.” The secret to success is to get wise young.

  1. I’ve actually heard someone suggest the strategy of getting an early job in California, staying there for a year, then moving elsewhere. That way, your first salary is at California rates & when you move, subsequent employers will be likely to match such rates.

I’m not sure I trust this idea for two reasons. First, I’m not sure the money would be worth living there in the first place. Second, if something (and life takes strange turns) happens to get you stuck there, you’re as screwed as the rest of the state.

  2. So first the kommiefornistanis vote themselves a tax increase to send even more business fleeing. then they allow power costs to soar because they want to be commies, I mean green. So therefore the parasite class in kommifornistan will have to suck more out of the gubmunt t keep the power on for their free iPhones. So the gubmunt will raise taxes so more businesses will flee. Good thinking. Can we put a wall up around Wyoming so they don’t move here. Besides, we have so many scary guns, they will just be verklempt.

  3. Every now and again a fellow CAian talks about how prices for things like gas is going up and I say something about how the state gov is affecting this and next thing I know I’m being lectured about how this is Bush’s fault. No, really. You’d think some statute of Emmanuel Goldstein limitations would’ve run that out by now.

  4. Unfortunately, many of the liberals that helped ruin California are now moving to other states and bringing their voting stupidity there. We need to quarantine California so they can’t get out and the disease will be contained.

The hardest thing in the world is to be a conservative in California and know that, for the rest of your life, no vote you cast will ever, ever make a difference.

  6. My niece just moved out of Boulder, Co. and tells me that CallyFornians are there in increasing hordes and are truly bringin’ their politics with them.
She just moved here to Michigan and her and her fiance are just friggen’ delighted to be here. Both found jobs in fast fashion.
BTW, their first stop was Seattle……..they labeled that one ‘unbelieveable’….

  7. Frank your best reason not to laugh is what son of bob said — and oh yes they’re trying to invade Idaho. Next time they go peeing on that fence they’ll grab your bare hand for support.

  8. Ok, that ^^^^ didn’t make sense. I hit the send button before adding that we do send some pretty great representatives to Congress. Tom McClintock is from up our way and he’s terrific! The state government is hopeless and Babs and Di-Fi are just flat scary stupid.

  9. The Californicators are part of what sent Vermont down the tubes politically. I second the motion to quarantine them and further move that conservatives residing there be given political asylum elsewhere and that those spreading the CA disease to other places be tracked down and returned to a quarantined CA.
