Illegal to Feed the Homeless?

Can you believe there actually some cities where there is a ban on feeding the homeless? Actually, knowing the left, it’s not too surprising to see things go from “the government helps everybody” to “only the government is allowed to help everybody.” Individual charity is something out of their control so it’s something they are very suspicious of.

There is a right to do charity. And anyone who would get in the way of one person helping another is an awful person who should be shunned from society.

  1. Here in Houston there was a crack down a couple years ago on Christian groups preparing meals for homeless. City said since the meals weren’t government inspected they weren’t safe.

  2. Well, okay, you shouldn’t feed the homeless for the same reason you shouldn’t feed other wildlife. You’ll weaken the herd.

Plus, the homeless are a vital political group for the Democrat Party. You don’t want them to form allegiances to other organizations.

  3. Nope! Can’t feed the homeless. And 47+ million can’t feed themselves. Also can’t feed our public school children, either. Too much liability. Too high a security risk in the kitchen (Federal guidelines needed), plus, it costs too much to feed those kids, anyway, while maintaining the salaries of the central office staff. One little bit of peanut and BAM! Lawsuit!! Transfat, tainted canned food, pesticide and salmonella on brown, wilted salads… all food just thrown in the trash anyway contributing to global warming. We just can’t do it anymore; it’s too hard.

    Hey, I know. Let’s politicize E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. That’ll fix it!

Okay, children, I don’t know who did it, but everyone put their heads down – NOW!

  4. Matthew: 25

    [41] Then he will say to those at his left hand, `Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels;
[42] for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,

  5. Oh, but now you WILL be stopped, Harvey, because your “help” is not government sanctioned.

    We must have government sanction!

And this is a direct, short-circuit of our Constitution: you have rights only if the government sanctions them, including those in the Constitution itself.

We need permission to walk the Earth.

  6. The Key Words in the definition of Charity are :”Freely Given”.

The government should be banned from Charity Work until it either abandons its policy of Intimidation and Threats, and disbands the IRS and its pet UNCONSTITUTIONAL Tax Courts.

They will never do this since it would leave it to individuals to determine which individuals and groups deserve their support. This is the complete opposite of favoring their “pet projects” and more Governmental Dependence.

  7. Spring, TX! I’m moving to you! Hooray! Tell me, is true what they say? Do they have freedom and logic in TX? I live near DC and they’re slowly sucking the common sense right out of people here.

How did they leave that whole situation about prepping meals for homeless?

  8. Oh, I left a non-funny, non-sarcastic, non-scathing, actually asking a question comment at IMAO. You’d think I’d know better by now and just stick to snark and flirting with Jimmy.

  9. Besides, if Christians are allowed to help the poor- you know, part of what Christianity calls for and all – then it’s harder for liberals to paint them as hateful, racist, homophobic, xenophobic, sexist bigots. So no helping others allowed.

I swear it’s like Dolores Umbridge left Hogwarts and moved to the USA.
