But, I believe that Jesus would point out that making laws to take from some and give to others is just a way of relieving yourself of the responsiblity to care for people yourself.
I normally don’t post pictures of Jesus, but this time the message seemed congruent with his teachings.
I thought the “Libertarian Jesus” part wasn’t necessary, but I didn’t make the picture, it was just passed along to me, and I do like to encourage reader submissions.
I don’t think it’s bad enough to delete, but I think I’ll add Jesus pictures to my “not gonna post” list.
@8 My goodness. I don’t *care* what Carpenter would think. I just thought it would definitely stir him up. I disagree with him in pretty much everything. But I am not in favor of causing contention.
jw, I know that you don’t see anything wrong with the picture. I wouldn’t expect you to.
I have only tried to respectfully state *my* feelings.
one of the things that separates us from the animals (and Muslims) is that we understand that a represenatation of Jesus and the actual Jesus are not the same thing. We also understand humor.
@13 – Agreed, however I do think Anonymiss is right – the “Dakota Meyer rule” applies here.
Frank & Basil & Keln & Lactose & Mr. Right may feel differently, and if they want to post captioned Jesus pictures, I won’t complain, but I think I’m gonna stay on this side of the line. Personal preference.
I apologise for submitting the picture. I would have preferred it not to be the “Libertarian Jesus” but that’s the way it was . I did not find it offensive and I am also a Christian (SDA)
Today’s Socialists would have taxed the woman with the alabaster jar in Mark 14:3-7 VERY harshly and prevented her from doing what she did. They’re precisely as tune-deaf as the disciples whom Jesus made a teachable point to in the story.
Amen!
No, Judas, you can’t sell the 12 baskets of broken loaves under the brand-name “Wonder Bread”!
Oh my. I’d hate to see what Carpenter would say if he saw that.
Though I agree with the sentiment, using a captioned picture of Jesus to express it makes me uncomfortable.
I hold His life and teachings… and His likeness sacred.
@3 – Yeah, I was kinda torn on this one myself.

Sorry about this one, Anonymiss.
I don’t see the problem. The post is crystal clear and respectful. Rather excellent, imho.
there is nothing wrong with this picture.
please don’t make a new addition to the “not gonna post list”over this.
from “high praise” to “not gonna post” list is a pretty big jump.
and i truly don’t give a crap what carpenter would think about that picture. why would you?

I hoped that this was a safe place to do so.
As for me, this reminds me of when I posted a lolbama! picture of Obama with the Medal of Honor recipient.
Some things are just best not put in the same room with levity when the same point can be made another way.
Even in humor, respect matters.
Reminds me of a good scene from the M*A*S*H TV show:
Hawkeye: “Oh … sorry, Father.”
Father Mulcahey: “Don’t worry, son. Humor, too, is one of His creations.”
@10 good point. the lolbama and Dakota Meyers episode… OTOH, as oppo says…re: mulcahey….

I am Christian and approve of this message. May even share it on my fb

@16 – Don’t feel bad. I’m glad you sent it in, because I learned something about both myself and Moon Nukers.
I feel the wiser for it, and I consider that a good thing.
Don’t this this scar you. Please keep sending.
