I remember seeing that in a theater, I think while I was watching a Mel Brooks triple feature. My reaction at the time was “this is going to be the worst movie ever”. When it finally came out I went to a six screen that was showing it continuously from 8AM until midnight on all six screens, and even then I had to wait in line.
The announcer’s ennui and the lack of any meaningful background music killed the teaser trailer. Painful indeed
“The story of a boy, a girl and a universe.” definitely sounds like a parody!
I saw that back upon a time and hadn’t seen it since. Think I saw it on WGN. I remembered the music. Trailers I’d seen after the movie came out had John Williams’s memorable score, so I thought I’d dreamed or misremembered this older trailer. Thanx.
