Random Thoughts: Death Swift Library Fool

“I don’t believe in the death penalty; I just believe in passing lots of arbitrary laws that people with guns will sometimes kill over.”

Why have I been spending an hour trying to get a substring in Swift?! Why is that like landing a space shuttle?!

“Your dishonesty about what books you have on hand have turned this truthbrary into a library.”

  1. Every law carries a death penalty. When a government passes a law it is effectively saying “this is important enough that you may potentially lose your life if you disobey”, and every time citizens accept a law, they are agreeing.

The incident in NY is a perfect illustration of that. A person died over a stupid cigarette tax, and it was all legal and proper. Sure, he wasn’t exactly a shining example of a model citizen, but in this case, he was breaking an insignificant and arbitrary law intended to control behavior through social engineering and in the enforcement of that law he lost his life. The same thing can happen with ANY law, no matter how seemingly innocuous.

Before a law is passed, everyone should ask themselves “is this worth killing someone over?” Maybe you’d still be able to buy a 20 oz. soda in NY if people did.
