Thursday Night Open Thread

Remember Black Sabbath? Yeah, I never really got Black Sabbath.

[The YouTube]

I know there was a Boris Karloff movie called “Black Sabbath.” Actually, it was called “I tre volti della paura” which does not translate to “Black Sabbath” but it was released in the U.S. as “Black Sabbath.” But I do not think the band, the album, or the song have anything to do with that movie.

Of course, if something about this song could be tied back to a movie in some way. But how? Maybe we’ll come up with something tomorrow.

Anyway, do you have something you’d like to share? A link? A joke? Some words of wisdom? A topic to discuss? It’s Thursday Night Open Thread.

  1. Aproppo of Nothing:

Even kids sensed that there was something wrong with Darren Stevens’ moral code.

If witches existed, and if the majority of them showed absolutely no hesitation to use their powers to cause mischief, and if you had access to one who was willing to use her powers only for good, why would you choose unilateral dis(ch)armament?

  2. When I was 4 or 5, we had 5 records in the house that I remember.

The Beatles – “Help!” (US Version)
Jackson 5 – “The Third Album”
Paul Simon – “There Goes Rhymin’ Simon”
Chuck Berry – “The London Chuck Berry Sessions”
    Black Sabbath – “Paranoid”

The Black Sabbath album was scary to me but I liked it. The other Sabbath albums are okay, but Paranoid rocks (I guess for nostalgic reasons)

Funny side note: The reason it was scary to me was the sirens at the beginning of War Pigs. The tornado warning systems in St Louis were sirens (which I thought was the sound the tornadoes made). So I associated the beginning of War Pigs with a coming tornado.
