  1. The elephant in the room
    It once seemed so tame!
Now looms with gloom and doom
    But doesn’t have a name

    The 800-pound gorilla
    Impervious to force
    As dangerous as Attila —
    Anonymous, of course

    Massive Trojan horses
    Passive dinosaurs
    Resistible forces
    Which everyone ignores

    Will it never stop?
    Is it not a shame?
So we brought in a bull from a china shop
So he can take the blame.

    Memorial Day Poem

    “Cry havoc!” quoth the Bard,
“Let slip the dogs of war!”
No dogs, though, cheered that deadly word
    That had been slipped before.

The world will selfishly little note
    What Abraham Lincoln said
What we say here. And what he wrote
    Went unheard by the dead.

Each crusade on earth, it seems,
    Sends heroes unto hell
Is it worth their hopes and dreams?
    Live poets never tell.
