I never really got into Talking Heads. Oh, they’re okay. But I never bought anything of theirs. I wouldn’t change the radio if one of their songs came on, but I never turned the volume up either.
Do you have something you’d like to share? A link? A joke? Some words of wisdom? A topic to discuss? It’s Thursday Night Open Thread.
What’s on your mind?

Tropes. Memes. Perhaps even poetry. But not music.
Oh, yeah: and performance art. But that’s not music, either.
Come to think of it, what the hell were they?
At least with the Beatles, you could say “They were musicians and . . .”
— and then list everything else, but it was all secondary, even if they themselves tried to make it just as primary.
Well Byrne went to the Rhode Island School of Design IIRC. Ain’t gonna DuckDuck it.
The Talking Heads film “Stop Making Sense” is well worth seeing. And the album is excellent – really a live greatest hits album. Much of the content on their studio albums is self-indulgent and dull.
I’ve always liked this song by the Heads…..

In-n-n-teresting! Film-worthy, with the fun and the story arc’s ending.

Sucks that P4S was only released on his Greatest Hits and not on any studio album. I bought the Bob Dylan Mono Recordings box set on vinyl and the Greatest Hits was not included. This song was only available in mono for download if you bought the box set.
I’ve always liked this Dillon song…………

Too many great Dylan tunes to choose from.
I like Dylan songs best when performed by someone other than Dylan. That said, when you see him in concert you can’t take your eyes off him. The man has tremendous presence.
Same with Springsteen
I agree.
If you ever get a chance, I urge you to see the movie True Stories. It is a hoot. Features Byrne, with John Goodman, Swoosie Kurtz, Spalding Gray, Pops Staples, and John Ingle. Pure satire.
Every now and then a cover is almost as good as the original…

I like the Talking Heads just fine. It always sounded like just another version of rock to me. Their song “Nothing But Flowers” was always a favorite because it sounded like someone complaining about having to live in a post-capitalist society.
“I miss the honky-tonks, Dairy Queen’s, and chocolate chip cookies!”
“If this is paradise, I wish I had a lawnmower”
Maybe the Heads were in Cuba when they wrote the song…and surely they meant a riding lawn mower.
