Link of the Day: So… Where WAS Obama on 9/11/01?

Every year around 9/11, people feel compelled to tell the story of where they were and what they were doing when they first heard that a plane hit the World Trade Center. It’s not narcissism, it’s a perfectly normal act of catharsis.

It occurred to me that I’ve never heard Obama tell his story, the way a perfectly normal person would. You’d think that after 6 9/11’s, Obama’s tale would’ve been told and retold until it was forcibly woven into our national consciousness, like that stupid “Republicans drove the country into a ditch” metaphor he used for years.

But there’s nothing.

So I Googled it.

And came up with two items of interest.

A forum where they basically used “where was Obama on 9/11?” as a straight line and had a little fun with it.

And the odd, sad truth.

I say odd, because most people go a little numb when they tell their tale, and the overwhelming theme is shock and disbelief, and how unreal it all seemed.

Obama… seems peculiarly indifferent in his description.

Oh, well, maybe I’m just seeing what I want to see because I hate the man. I certainly hope so, because the alternative – that he really IS indifferent – is a little horrifying to me.

  1. Sad, even back then his first reaction was to feel sorry for – and defend – the Jihadists, and to put himself into the most sympathetic spotlight possible…Did he breastfeed the child too, as a display of equality with Michelle? Let me read it again, I missed the part where he showed empathy for the nearly 3000 people who probably had the urge to call in sick on that beautiful, sunny Tuesday.
