Reagan liked the same gun I do:
Morris also tells the story of how Reagan bought a pistol in Iowa: He “did acquire a 1934 Walther PPK .380 pocket-sized police pistol early in his stay in Des Moines and kept it lovingly the rest of his life. He even toted it in his briefcase as president.”
If .380 is good for Reagan, it’s good enough for me. I got my PPK back from the gunsmith and will be heading to the range to try it out and fire my Kel-Tec .380 again. Expect a range report.

–Careful, Frank… you might just piss someone off with that pistol. Make sure you bring your 1911 along, in case you have to actually kill something.
Wow, an evening post!
I never figured a president would carry a gun around. Sounds like George Harrison on “Air Force One”.
(first to say first)
June 15th is annual Pave-A-Country day… Don’t forget, people!
Go Reagan!
George Harrison?
lol
“George Harrison” Frank?????? Oh my…..
OT, but today I completed the paperwork portion for joining the Army Reserve. I have MEPS on Monday, and then I’ll be an official soldier. URRP!
I’m surprised that the Gipper was a .380 man. I would have taken him for a six-shooter kind of guy. It would have been cool seeing him draw a Peacemaker and drill Hinckley ‘tween the whites.
Slab out.
Just read over at WND that Reagan had a .45 in 1933..unloaded, but he did use it to break up a mugging (muggers in the 30’s being the pre-cursors to the hippies of the 60’s, this fits in well with Frank’s Fun Facts).
“As for all other descendants, they can get an “I sought reparations for slavery and all I got was this lousy t-shirt” t-shirt for the apologetic price of just $12.00. Act now, because these reparations won’t last forever!”
Genius. Thank you Frank. Thank you.
Congrats, Turkey, and thanks for making the leap in joining.
No offense Frank, but the .380 is a Euroweenie pimp gun (like the .32 cals favored by our domestic types). The .380 cartridge is just a sawed-off 9mm. I had a WW2 Italian issue Berreta .380 and couldn’t hit the broad side of an aircraft carrier with it.
I’d stick with the 1911: makes big holes and is a dandy club when empty. ;-/
Is that the Kel-Tec P-3? DA only, 6 rounds?
Nice holdout piece…
😉
I’ve got a real nice PP, a little bit bigger than the PPK, holds one more round. And to get past that “.380 stigma” I just tell everyone, “er, 9mm kurz”. No one needs to know its a eurotrash way of saying “er, .380”. Mind you, it’s a backup gun, real work is done with a 92FAS.
