I’ve replaced the .wma file for my verbal greeting with an .mp3 from Steve Bragg of Double Toothpicks. Maybe I should just re-record the whole thing. What do you think? Only through your input can we improve IMAO and continue its mirth and merriment.
UPDATE: I’ve re-recorded and put up the new .wma file. I probably should go find a program to convert .wav to .mp3, but I’m too lazy.

first!
I wish you would re-record it, for the best possible sound quality. Frankly FrankJ, I could not understand everything you were saying in your greeting. Please re-record it, please?
I think I pin pointed my perceived problem with your greeting-some of the words sound (forgive me I’m not an audiophile) digitally slurred, if that makes sense, and like you were too close to the microphone.
Oh well, something to think about.
Thank you…
Now – could I get it in blue?
😉
can we get a transcript of that?
not a forged one though
It’s a little fuzzy. I vote for a re-recording. (It’s kinds scary too.)
I vote for a re-recording, too. When you said, “IMAO!” it came through beautifully, but everything else was really too quiet. Can you be a tad louder while still maintaining the menacing/foreboding tone?
that personal touch that means so much
Yes, rerecord. that was mostly unintelligible. Then again, I suppose that makes sense, considering that it’s meant to greet new readers to IMAO. It’s something they should get used to.
Get off your duff and convert it to .wav so I can hear it. All I got when I clicked the link was a page full of squares and symbols.
WTF am I supposed to do with squares and symbols?!?
Frank,
You want I should make you another mp3?

DOUBLE TOOTHPICKS
Try this, Frank. The open source winLAME.
You’ll thank me later.
MusicMatch Jukebox would do the trick. You can download it for free.

http://www.GoldWave.com
That’s what I use. It’s a free download, and you don’t have to register if you don’t want to. You’ll just have to restart it every 50 recordings or so.
heh. you said cornucopia.
needs re-recording, and add some background music. the Twilight Zone theme comes to mind (your voice has a distinctly Rdo Serling quality).
Or Green Acres.
best,
