I was working my way through my RSS feeds this morning, when this “news” story popped up:
Former US presidential candidate hails decision to scrub Discovery launch
CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida July 13 (AFP) – Former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry Wednesday hailed the decision to postpone Discovery’s launch, saying it showed NASA’s capability to detect problems with the space shuttle. “You should look at today not as a disappointment but as a system that has worked,” Kerry told journalists at the Kennedy Space Center shortly after NASA’s 11th-hour decision to call of the launch. “The check system is working and the process found something that needed to be addressed. The astronauts are safe, the shuttle is on the ground, and they will address it,” the Massachussetts senator said. Mission managers canceled Wednesday’s planned launch because of a problem with Discovery’s fuel system.
Now, does anyone really care what John Kerry has to say about the scrubbed launch? Why would he even bother to issue a statement about it? He’s no more qualified to issue a statement on the matter than me, you, or a bum in the street . Whether it is “news” or not, it does give us a chance to revisit one of the funnier events from last years campaign:

I thought Koko was a signing Gorilla?
Between the Rove petition and this, I think we have proof of a Clear and Present Danger, i.e., Kerry running again in 2008.
The question is, “does anybody care what John Kerry says about anything?”
I can never remember: Is John Kerry the alcoholic Senator from Massachusetts or the Senator from Massachusetts who is a pathological liar but served in Vietnam for about as long as the NBA playoffs usually take?
Is that his magic CIA hat in the second picture?
The alcoholic senator is Fat Boy Kennedy
and the liar is Kerry.
Is this the same Koko that works on Rush’s web site?
Even without the bunny ears, he still looks gay.
But then, he looks gay in a 3-piece suit, as well…
Agreed, jimmyb.
He needs a basket full of brightly colored eggs.
Does this mean that if Kerry dies, one of us is pregnant?
“He’s no more qualified to issue a statement on the matter than me, you, or a bum in the street”
Thanks to the miracle of technology, everyone can now comment on these things.
Goe, adding a comment to your comment on kerry’s comment.
I could understand if John Kerry were a U.S. Senator from Florida, running for re-election next year, for he to make such comments. Why can’t Democrats, today, lose elections gracefully, like Vice-Presidents Hubert Humphrey, or Walter Mondale and behave with dignity? Why do they continue, years after the election, to behave as though they were the real president and what they say matters?
Now we know why there was a faulty valve on the Space Shuttle, and who knocked the protective cover off the window that damaged the tiles.
Sheesh, what a clown.
