The biggest on-field question surrounding Bonds this season is whether he will hit the 22 home runs he needs to break Hank Aaron’s career home run mark of 755. Bonds said he didn’t know if Aaron would be on hand if he’s in position to break the record and wasn’t about to predict when that milestone homer might come.
“I just want to do it. Period,” he said.
Bonds said he would have probably broken Aaron’s mark if not for the knee injuries that limited him to 14 games in 2005 and slowed him down for much of last season as well.

Were the ‘roids making him cry when he said this?
I just hope he does it in Atlanta, and 40,000 fans turn their backs to him as he trots around the bases in utter silence….
Calling Tonya Harding….
…on the other hand, it could have been the glare from the needle that kept him from the record.
Funny, I am on the other side of this argument. We all know that he juiced, look at the photos of his head. I just don’t care that he juiced. Great ballplayer and exciting to watch.

He would already have beaten Hank Aaron if the damned authorities would quit giving him those steroid tests and let him alone.
I say do away with all steroid testing and just let them go! Battle of the Gladiators! Rage in the cage! Just put a chain link fence around the fields and let them compete and beat the crap out of each other.
I want to see him go all ‘roidal on the field some time. Can you imagine the announcers screaming into the microphone that Barry’s just ripped someone’s arm off and has sunk his fangs into another player’s neck?
Glorious!
Bonds would never have even gotten close enough to see the record on a clear, sunny, day if he hadn’t cheated with drugs.
People used to whine that Pete Rose’s all-time hit record should include an asterisk, as most of the seasons he played had more games than did Ty Cobb and company. In other words he had an unfair advantage.
And now no one’s saying anything about this worthless, lying “no, I didn’t inject” hack!?
Feh.
