Payback

I’m probably a little late to this point, but if the $165 million paid to AIG employees as bonuses is really wasteful and we should get it back for our tax money, shouldn’t those responsible for it pay us back? That’s not the AIG employees who are just following their own contracts they agreed to but to the people who approved those contracts. So shouldn’t all the Congressmen who voted for the stimulus get together and pay back the $165 million with their own personal funds?

  1. every congress person who voted for Baracks porkulous plan should be ashamed of them selfs. They should give every dime of the taxpayer money back and then quit there jobs……….and as a send off to all of them we should get to tar and feather them…….then it would be all good….

  3. HOW DARE YOU! You all have a lot of damn gall demanding accountability from congress! That’s why they’re there! They don’t need to worry about being held accountable!
This just goes to prove the moral superiority they posses over you diminutive peons.

  4. What about the campaign contributions paid to Dodd, Frank, Obama, etc. from AIG, Fanny and Freddie, etc.? Why shouldn’t they be returned? If those entities were headed for financial trouble, then certainly such frivolities as campaign contributions should be considered wreckless, and those contributions should immediately be paid back by the anti-American recipients.

  5. What irks me most is the constant references to “getting back the tax-payer’s money”.
If every AIG employee who got a dime of bonus money in the past 5 years gave it All back with interest, No tax-payer is ever going to see a penny of that money.
Can they possibly think anyone still believes them?

  6. 4 of 7,

Sadly, a ton of people believe them. On 11/4/08, the world asked if Americans were as stupid as they had thought we were. Later that same day, 52% answered, “Yes we are!”. So, yeah, they actually believe they will see a penny or more. Because at least 52% of them couldn’t beat a brain-dead coma victim at a game of Scrabble.

  7. BHO, Dodd, and Schumer recieved $110,000+ $281,000+ $111,000+ respectively from AIG for their campaigns. Dodd then puts into the bill wording so the bounuses can be paid out. this is nothing more then a thank you for AIGs support. A little hand wringing and fake disgust and it’s back to normal for all of them. Same thing with throwing out the trucking treaty with Mexico keeping mexican trucks from hauling goods into the US. pay off for the Teamsters. result we pay more for goods made in mexico like chevys, fords, chryslers, food, clothing… Will Rogers daid it years ago ” we have the best politicians money can buy”.
