So anyone watch the Republican debate last night? I didn’t because I don’t really like watching people talking — I dunno, people talking just annoys me for some reason — but what I’m hearing is that even though T-Paw was considered the only viable candidate in attendance, Herman Cain kind of ran away with it. And I guess Ron Paul wasn’t even crazy enough to be worth mentioning; what the point of him, then?

What’s the point of Ron Paul? Why, the top of his head, of course.
I heard Cain on the Steve Malzberg show a month or so back and was quite impressed. If America is looking for a CEO to get our financial house in order, he is the man.
Not Romney. Nice guy, admirable in many ways, but I cannot overlook Romneycare. A real conservative governor should have IMPEACHED HIMSELF before signing socialized health care into law.
Cain benefitted the most. Many didn’t know anything about him, and this was their first exposure … and they liked what they saw.
The winner is the gentleman from Georgia because he showed that … (ahem) … Cain is able.
Cain did great, and I think the more people get exposed to him, the more support he’ll pick up. I’ve always said one of the keys to getting elected he sounding strong, confident, and unapologetic in your speech. Everyone else always (as per standard GOP methodology) starts out hedging as if their afraid to get it wrong.
Basil, you’re on fire today. I’m sure you can find an ointment to treat that before it spreads.
The questions were good, thoughtful, and challenging. The anchors did well.
Well, there was that Barbara Walters-ish question Baer (I think it was) asked Gary Johnson along the line if “What kind of reality show would you host?”
If it was me, I’d’ve asked Johnson, “Dude, what the f**k?”
My follow-up would have been, “No, seriously, what the f**k?”
I pray to God that Cain wins. But it’s my natural inclination to think that the debate won’t garner him much support since no one watched it. I didn’t watch it and I knew it was on!
If we raise a ruckus, we could be raising Cain. (sorry)
I proudly admit voting for Cain when he last ran for office here in Georgia. He is not one the Republican geldings.
At least there’s no “Mc” in front of Cain. And hopefully, Mc will stay completely away from him… so Cain doesn’t get dragged through the Mc.
What’s the point of Ron Paul? Abolishing the FED. FED bad, Frank. Bad… bad!!
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Cain for pres, anyone else there or bachmann for Veep, Ron Paul for Treasury sec.
Cain is able.
You’re snoring, ussjimmycarter. I can hear it from here.
Geez, the Paulnuts must be totally dispirited to not even have one show up.
Although, I think you need to say his name three times to get them to show up.
They’re like Candyman only more annoyingly crazy than murderously crazy.
NObama 2012! Anyone will do… even Elmer Fudd…
I’d prefer not to have Romney (because of the previously mentioned Romneycare). But Ron Paul could take a lot of good steps for our country (even if he is a bit wild eyed at times O_o), and Herman Cain is just awesome (even if he isn’t as well known or as likely to win).
The depressing thing is that the truly fiscally and socially conservative votes could go all across the board – Ron Paul, Tim Pawlenty, or Cain – and we could end up electing another McCain… that is, Romney or Trump. (as much as Trump talks the talk, he doesn’t walk the walk: his past shows abundant Democratic support and attempted theft from little old ladies living in small homes near his casinos… I love the things he is saying now, but you look at his past, and it isn’t so cut and dry…)
Alas, how much of my kingdom would I give for an ‘approval’ voting system for primaries and/or election days? (oh wait, I don’t have a kingdom… guess that answers that question.)
I think Gary Johnson was tripping. He looked like he had his hair on sideways.
Herman Cain debating Barack Obama would be the equivalent of a steel cage match between Mr. T and Erkel…
With a couple of days for reflection, I think that Cain came across as an adult. That was the real difference. TPaw, Santorum, and Johnson came across like college kids. rOn pAUl came off like Joe Biden without the great hair.
I think the country needs some adults in charge.
I’m afraid that we are going to have to endure 4 more years of Obamanation. Seriously, we on the right can’t seem to pull our selves together and act like adult long enough to field an electable candidate. Everyone has their own personal litnus test that no candidate can possible pass. I don’t really care who runs as long as they have evidenced integrity, honesty, and are willing to govern according to the will of the people.
Of course that right there is the sticking point. Not everyone in this country is conservative and as president you have to be able to compromise and govern all people even the ones you disagree with. The candidates who are governors have found out about that double edged sword. So it seems we can either get elected or continue to fight amongst ourselves, savaging our own and producing less than stellar candidates.
But then again I’m old so next death panel time I’m probably going to get the shaft. I guess that’s something to look forward to, an Obama free zone.
Except Huckabee. ANYONE but Huckabee: Homer Simpson, Captain Jack Sparrow, that dumb Twilight Vampire, a Pet Rock. Really………….. anyone else.
Am I crazy?……..What Ron Paul says sometimes makes sense to me
