Little bit of trivia: one of the first “selfies,” here, from 1434. Van Eyck figured out how to get himself into the picture, in that convex mirror, along with another fellow, who is thought to be the witness at the Arnolfini wedding ceremony.

Flashbacks from Survey of Art History classes. Five million slides an hour. I loved it, learned a lot, but couldn’t retain all the artists’ names.
As one of the commenters in the original post notes, even the dog in the Arnolfini portrait looks like Putin.
