Of course Liberals are arguing that Obama’s Coffee Salute is not nearly as bad as George Bush’s “Puppy Salute”. The trouble is, one is obviously meant as, “You don’t deserver the effort it takes to shift this coffee cup to my other hand, which is free,” while the other is, “I’m struggling to keep my dog from jumping out of my arms, but I’m still going to try to salute you, because you deserve the effort.”
When measuring the meaning of deviations from formality, always consider the motives that prompted them.
Now here’s the worst part of this whole coffeegate salute fiasco…Obama has a !STYROFOAM! cup in his hand!! Do you know what styrofoam cups are made from? They’re made from styrofoam! And styrofoam is a petroleum product, in other words OIL! Yes, the same oil that is refined into gasoline, the same oil that is causing global warming, air pollution, raising sea levels, reduction in the ozone layer, and wars in the middle east! So he might as well of held a hand full of earth polluting oil in his hand as he attempted to return that salute! Worse than that, it’s a large 16 ounce cup and may have contained a sugary drink rather than a latte as the pro Obama media contends. Only Eric Holder knows for sure and he’s submitting his resignation! Once again the media covers for him and America hangs it’s collective head in shame.
Bush should have simply consumed the dog before he got off the plane. Would have solved the whole problem.
I’m only guessing, but wouldn’t a serviceman that respected his commander appreciate that salute (from President Bush), arms full and the leash wrapped across his wrist? Especially if he is just disembarking a helicopter, that dog was probably nearly panicked. I would have that framed, on the mantle.

Never mind the cup, at least Obama was using the right number of fingers as opposed to his preferred salute to the military.
