I seem to recall that he let the cat out of the bag early in his first term when he said that he couldn’t get any immigration reform passed without “bi-partisan support”.
That means that unless he could sucker some republicans into voting for it, he wasn’t going to push it, because he didn’t want the dems to take all the blame.
Shame he didn’t follow the same strategy when it came time to cram obamacare down all our throats.
Translation: “I’m waiting for the Republicans to screw the pooch in the Midterms before doing whatever I jolly well please.”
