On a serious note, thanks to all who prayed for us here in CA. I’ve worked with the Yes on 8 folks – they were great people who fasted, prayed, and worked tirelessly. They (we) have been assaulted, robbed, called filthy names, our neighborhoods have been vandalized, property has been destroyed. All I can say is I’m glad it’s OVER. My children have learned a valuable lesson in “tolerance”. You know – the “tolerance” the no on 8 people preach??? Yeah, turns out they’re not so tolerant! Who woulda thunk? In any event, it was quite an education for my h’schooled kiddos but in the end they learned the power of prayer is our best “defense”.

My dad was the only one in the family that voted against it. He’s a divorce lawyer, so as far as he was concerned, it (gay marriage being legal) just meant more inventory for him. Now that I think about it, though, with what Obama’s going to do with the economy, we’d probably need that inventory now…
Please print this article out and shove it in the face of every Republican who feels the need to pander to some minority or another. Conservative ideals are universal, so instead of trying to pander to a group, show them why your ideas are good for them. Don’t try to appeal to blacks by saying you’ll support affirmative action. Stick to your anti-abortion message, and point out how abortion clinics are disproportionately targeting young black girls. If they’re in an industrial area, show them how your support for border enforcement will stop illegals from flooding the market for low-skilled factory jobs, thus increasing wages. Show your support for traditional families; after all, in liberal California, where blacks were turning out mainly to support the most liberal major candidate in a generation, blacks still backed a ban on gay “marriage” 70/30. Oh, Community Organization Y is concerned about a lack of minority-owned businesses? Whose economic policies make business ownership more attractive?
In 2006, in blue state Michigan, there was a ballot initiative to ban affirmative action in public contracting, employment, and university enrollment. The Republican candidates in the state couldn’t run away from it fast enough. Prop 2 opponents heavily outspent proponents. A lot of Republicans lost, including their candidate for Governor. Prop 2 passed 58/42.
Instead of running away from conservative principles, Republicans should embrace them, and explain to their audience why those principles are right. Conservative principles will draw voters, if Republicans would have the common sense to advocate for them.

Hi Jill – let me start with this…..do you have children? Are they going to school? If so then REDEFINING marriage can/will affect you. See http://www.massresistance.com for proof and even video of 1st/2nd graders being read “Heather has 2 Mommies”. Or google “5 and 6 year olds taken to a gay marriage in San Francisco” for a recent example in CA. In San Diego, our high school showed a video to all students promoting “GLBT History Month” JUST LAST WEEK. If you don’t have children, this may be hard to understand – but MANY of us believe it is NOT the role of schools, but PARENTS to teach children about this subject according to their own values/beliefs. Schools should focus on EDUCATION, not political correct-ness. Parents’ rights are being trampled upon in MA. They are being called intolerant bigots and haters. A Dad from MA just spoke at Qualcomm Stadium. He was arrested for trying to opt out his first grader from a gay promoting ceremony at his child’s school. This stuff is REAL. If we REDEFINE marriage then the door is open for it to legally be taught as “normal” and “equal” to the traditional definition of marriage – the one that has been in existence since the beginning of time. Check out MA. I live in CA and it’s happening here, as well.
Second, are you a person of faith? Do you go to church? If so then REDEFINING marriage can/will affect your pastor/priest/church/etc. There are numerous examples of pastors being sued and threatened with losing tax exempt status for refusing to marry a gay couple based on their deeply held religious convictions. They are being told gay rights trump their religious freedoms. Very scary.
Do you have a business that has anything to do with the wedding industry? If so then REDEFINING marriage can/will affect you. Again, numerous examples of photographers being fired and/or sued for passing on photographing a gay wedding due to their religious beliefs.
Are you a doctor? If so then REDEFINING MARRIAGE can/will affect you. My very own OB/GYN was SUED for telling a lesbian couple she could not, in good conscience due to religious beliefs, impregnate them. She referred them out to someone who would. They sued anyway. My doctor LOST. Google Dr. Brody and Dr. Fenton/San Diego.
In CA gay couples ALREADY HAVE ALL THE RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES married couples do. It is a FACT. So ask yourself….why do they wish to redefine marriage????? WHY?????? Their agenda is RADICAL. They wish to force their lifestyle on the rest of us and their behavior throughout this campaign is EVIDENCE OF THAT.
I do not hate gay people. Never have, never will. In fact my heart aches for them. I will, however, fight like all-heck for the rights of my family, my children, and my beliefs. Marriage was ordained by God. Whether you believe in Him or not does not make Him cease to exist. Think about what REDEFINING marriage means. This isn’t about “equal rights” and “fairness”. And those of us fighting to protect the traditional definition of marriage have NOTHING to do with “hate” and “intolerance”. This is about standing for what is RIGHT in a culture and climate that is hostile to the truth. Homosexuality is not a “civil right”. It is a lifestyle choice. So homosexuals….go be gay! 24 hr.s later, the local SF tv stations are on a non-stop rant about prop. 8 passing. The big complaint seems to be about equal protection under the law(?). Apparently lawsuits have already been filed to try to subvert the will of the people. So I saw this one SF City attorney saying that that type of amendment couldn’t apply to gays because they are a “protected” minority. Hmph. Apparently equal protection only applies when the left says it does.

Sulamie is right on target. Prop 8 is not about bigotry, it is about stopping the PC nonsense. My initial reaction was to oppose Prop 8, but I am a geek, so I read the text of the Proposition and did a few minutes of research.
According to existing California law, domestic partners have identical rights and responsibilities to spouses. Prop 8 does not change this. Prop 8 is about denying them their Marxist agenda to destroy our society. This links to the text of the existing domestic partner law,

Prop 8 does not deny gays property rights. It does not deny gays rights to hospital visitation.

Well, since turnout this year was comparable to 2004, and since Blacks normally vote for the Democrats over 90% of the time anyway, I’d say that’s not the case.
I’d say that conservatives didn’t turn out enough. So, if I want to see who cost us the election, I just look in the mirror. You might want to do the same.
