So you know the “You didn’t build that!” comments from Obama are really hurting him since he’s working so hard to counteract them. He keeps claiming they’re out of context — the “that” refers ungrammatically to “roads and bridges” instead of one’s business — but the problem is it sounds horrible no matter what the context. The fact is, he’s not shouting “You didn’t build that!” at business owners out of respect; he chastising them as if they don’t know where roads and businesses come from. It’s a useless twit who has never worked an actual job in his life lecturing people who risked everything to make their own businesses about things they already know. Plus, it’s a backwards understanding of the relation of government and business. The government doesn’t make roads and bridges to allow people to create businesses; the tax revenue from business is what gives the government money to make those roads and bridges.
Anyway, the whole argument over Obama’s “You didn’t build that!” statement has now jumped the shark as Jonathan Chait argues the anger over it is all about racism. See, for this speech, Obama was using “black dialect.” I didn’t detect it, no one else I know heard black dialect, but Chait sure heard it. While the rest of us were hearing anti-success liberal tripe ala-Elizabeth Warren, Chait instead saw an angry scary black man yelling in crazy black man speech. And that means everyone other than him is a racist. I don’t know what you even say to this anymore except, “Here is a ball, Chait. Perhaps you’d like to bounce it.”
The more damning part was the “they think they’re so smart” comment. What sarcastic disdain for people who power our economy.
We need a version of Godwin’s Law to cover knee-jerk It’s Teh Racizm! shark-jumping techniques.
So he was condescending to his audience, like Hillary was (“I ain’t no ways tired…”)?
Anyway, as we know from the Romans, the government makes roads for two reasons: Because merchants pay for them, and to move armies quickly to beat up people.
I’m not racist. I was every bit as offended when Elizabeth Warren said it, too.

All the roads and bridges in the U.S. are built by companies under contract with various levels of government. So, Obama is wrong again. Business did build that – also!
AND, increasingly fewer roads, sewers and other infrastructure projects are even financed by government. Developers are required not only to install all roads and other infrastructure when developing raw land, but are generally required (at least in California, where government “services” are a foreign concept) to improve local public roads leading to or from the development, if the development is large enough to impact traffic – they have to widen roads, create intersections, install traffic signals – even install freeway ramps, in some cases (I’m thinking Disneland Resort, here). Anaheim got a massive facelift, better signals, widened roads with turning lanes, stunning landscaping with mature trees, better signage, etc. for all the public roads within a mile of Disneyland, and Anaheim did not pay for it – or at least, not for all of it. What funds they might have contributed came from the revenue generated by Disneyland and its tourists in the first place. California has been shifting the direct cost burden of “public” improvements on to private enterprises for years.

Whose racists: Those who disagree with the president or those who think our president is actually “black enough” to speak in a “black dialect?” I like what Morgan Freeman said. Obama isn’t our first black president. That was Clinton.
Isaac Newton said, “If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” But, it was Newton (and Liebnitz) who developed the Calculus, not those giants, it was Newton who realized gravity. Newton was more intelligent, smarter, than his contemporaries. All of his contemporaries had the same information, the same insoluble problems, the same teachers and schools and universities as Newton. But, it was Newton who developed the math to solve the unsolvable.
In the same vein, today, everyone has access to, and uses the same infrastructure, the same streets and bridges, and attends the same schools. So, if successful business owners aren’t smarter and harder working than anyone else, why hasn’t everyone built a successful business? The business owners may be standing on the shoulders of those who came before, but it is their vision, their intelligence, and their drive and ability that allows them to succeed, to see further. It is their taxes that maintains the infrastructure for everyone and pays to build new roads, bridges and infrastructure. It is only class envy that causes Obama and the marxists to claim “you didn’t build that.” Yes, Ear Leader, they did build those businesses, it was they who became successful, and they did it themselves.
If Obama was, whilst channeling his “darker aspects”, “dialectizing” he would’ve said “Aw, Hellz naw, foo! Y’allz be trippin like a muffa! Y’allz dint bild dat thang! Y’allz be thinkin’ youz so smart an stuff, don’ be Cadillacking like dat, you had da hood catchin’ y’allz back, Homie, bein’ all up in ya biznatch!”
I failed to hear that in his speech. What I heard was a desperate man seeking to patronize a demographic with inauthentic, affected tonal shadings in his manner of speaking.
So if that speech was his black dialect, are all the other speeches his Uncle Tom dialect?
